Its all about how it handles, gets there, comfort, reliability, this forum etc etc

What is the average MPG for a hooligan rider lol
45 to 60mpg depending how you ride

Also general things like

How reliable is it
Very
servicing - is it easy to do yourself and what is the intervals (is there any big services needed at certain points)
There is nothing on this bike you will struggle with, its as easy as any bike to service yourself.
when do the valves need doing and is this easy
Never done them (after owning 4 XTs), kev has a writeup on it, its doable DIY.
how is it for comfort
Perfect on day to day riding, 200miles in a day especially if you do motorway miles is a chore, the better your screen the better the experience. I have had both versions of the XTX, I preferred the MK1 version, much better screen options, my last XT had a touring screen and although it does not look brilliant, it was ok for me and made long rides fine.
Any feedback or further info is apperciated and your personal oppinions would be greatful/helpful in helping me decide in buying one.
6k service intervals, very reliable, tuneable to any budget, personally I preferred mine totally standard other than a power commander to sort out the fuelling, Job done.
If it helps my last 2 bikes were an R6 and KTM 640

R6 = good long distance, rubbish round town
KTM = fun round town and to and from work, not sure on long distance reliability.

Me I went from a VFR750 to XTX Mk1 to a MK2 XTX to a New XTZ Tenere finally back to a XTX Mk1. I then decided to get a CBR600 and now I am paying the price but thats another story. If/when I get another bike (CBR got wroteoff in an accident) Id get another XTX MK1.

So would like a bike inbetween and this bike came to mind

Hi Tony660x all i can say is stunning, always liked the look of the xtx just hope i can find one as nice as yours, but i think i can only afford the older one which i think changed in 07, thankyou for the insperation

I've just came from an R1 as my previous bike too.

The main reason I changed was from a comfort side of things, my wrists couldn't take the R1 riding position any longer. This is not a problem on the X...after the R1, this thing is heaven. Also from a weight point of view...after coming from the R1, which is a light sports bike, the X feels like a BMX :laughing7:

It takes a while to get used to the engine after coming from an inline 4, but it soon grows on you.

I was surprised how well the X handles too when you throw it into a corner, and I was actually surprised how well the Pirelli's grip. I once had these on a GSXR and hated them but they seem to suit this bike.

As previously said, have a go on one, but don't be too quick to make you're mind up, as it took a while to grow on me.

Cheers, I also prefer the MK1 if I am honest. I prefer the plastics on it, a little pointer as well in 2006 they introduced a better designed front fork, the 2006 MK1 XTX had the black front forks (and anything never also had the improved fork design), try to get this one or newer as earlier MK1 XTX's suffered with cracks in the axle pinch clamps due to owners over tightening the clamps. Its not a major issue or a deal breaker just a pointer. I have owned both styles and never suffered the issue.

Cheers guys.

Tony660x - Thats a nice pic mate, I would just remove the rear light if it was me, im not keen on the standard one.

Im trying to find somewhere local to try and test ride one of these bad boys but its proving difficult

Gota try and get one with aftermarket cans already on because I dont think I would ever spend the money getting new ones
