2 UP World Tour .

Hello xt660.com Riders

Leigh and I will be leaving on our Round the World Trip in May 2012.

Having spent the last few months preparing our XT660Z ready for the trip it's now more or less ready to go.

The House as been sold and were now waiting here in the UK untill May before we start our trip.

Our route will take us through Holand, Belgium, France Germany, Austria then down to the tip of Italy. Here we get to Ferry over to Greece, before working our way around into Turky.

From here we head North to Georgia and on into Russia.

We will cross Mongolia before re entering Russia and heading for Magadan .

It's then a few weeks off the bike while its being shipped to South Korea and then onto Alaska.

From here our route south to Ushuaia will take us through North America / Central America and most of South America
Once in Ushuaia we then turn around and ride north to BA so we can get the bike shipped to Cape town in South Africa .
Then spending a few months riding in SA , Nambia and Botswana.

It would be great to meet as many other XT660.com riders on route as we can .

Here is the bike fully loaded and all but ready for the off. We just need to fit a new set of tyres before we leave.

We hope to catch you on the road..

Thanks All.

we have had a few sleepless night over the last few months. someone once said " riding a bike around the world is the easy bit, its the planning that's hellish hard "
We found out that this is true.:sad10: The bike will have a spot tracker fitted .I will post the link once its up and running so you can see where we are.

I will post updates and photos onto FB and if it's OK with Keith he could cope them onto here.

Thanks Duel

we leave the UK on the 7th May.

It will be about a year before we arrive in Cape town.

Leigh's Daughter lives in South Africa so we will be spending time with her, also Martin off here { TinTin } as kindly offered us a place to stay . So we should get chance to visit a lot of South Africa before we head into Namibia.

Cant wait to see this part of Africa.

Thanks

Darren and Leigh

Just under a month to go, I remember our last month at home in fact I'm still trying to forget it - STRESS !!!!
Probably take you a month to get into life on the road but once you settle into your routine - nothing beats it.

Cheers

Paul

i carry on my RTW May 2013 (38,000 miles already done), late this year i will be doing a few long rides in the states, i'll look out for you on the road here in the states, you'll be easy to spot as i am one of the only owners with an XTZ that permanently lives in the states and i watch out for others passing thru, yet to see one.

otherwise i am sure we will bump into each other somewhere else on the road...good luck out there, you'll have a ball...any questions drop me a PM

Hi Paul
hope our paths cross. we aim to spend quite a bit of time in the states. Our rough plan is to arrive in Alaska late August and then head south ..Like you say they wont be many 660 Tenere's in the USA ,our's is a white one, well it will be white when we leave:033:

Catch you on the road

Hi
sorry for not updating our blog but we have had problems logging on.

we have now been in Mongolia for the past two weeks.
Mongolia is stunning and at the same time hard going, but were loving every minute. were now in UB at the Oasis Travellers camp catching up with some friends for a few days rest and also to visit the Naadam Festival which starts on Wednesday.

Because we dont get on line very often we have only had time to post our photos and write up here
