Help me Learn
Ive just bought an 08 XTR, I barely know anything about bikes but am very eager to learn. I dont want to be that guy that just takes it in to the shop if anything may be wrong or needs a service, I want to learn to do it all (within reason) myself. Im near Brisbane, Australia and dont know of anyone to teach me. May someone show me the ropes please?

Help
Hi there,
So what side of Brisy are you on ? I am up at Toowoomba and am happy to give you a hand anytime if that helps, I have a 09 XT660R. I would think there will be a few willing to help you out as well. PM me if you like, cheers. Shane. |
:hello: and :welcome: to :660:
We happen to have our most expert mechanic who actually lives in Brisbane, his name is Kev send him a pm and arrange a meeting. |
Welcome mate, we all started some where, there is tons of info on this forum with many members always willing to help out.
I would start your reading from this link, http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=630 or have a look at my mod book which lists 99% of every XT660 mod. |
Welcome.

Thank you everyone
Shane, CaptMoto, Kev, Keithblade, Enduro374 and Mickd,
Thank you for you prompt replies, I was away form the internet for a few days so I apologise for my delayed response. It is great to have such a warm welcome from people with XT660s, theyre an amazing bike. I really appreciate all the interest and will be sure to keep in touch with you all. I downloaded a service manual and used that to change my oil. I also had to replace the headlight bulb, I just did that by slowly trying to get into the back of it, ended up taking the whole front section off but it worked. The Bike has just clocked over 31,000k, I bought it at 26,000. It needs a 30,000 service. It didnt come with service history, manual or tool kit, I feel as though I cant rely on what should have been done in pervious services, being done? Shane, Im in the Redlands, on Moreton Bay, I would like to take a trip up to Toowomba sometime soon which would be great, I would like to take you up on the offer sometime soon. Cheers Capt and Kev, The tread looks great, very informative and will be sure to use it when I have the ability. Thank you Keith and Enduro374 Mickd, I just had a look there, Ill go through a reply once I post this. My main thing now is a service and replacing the front and back sprockets along with the chain as they are all very worn and sprockets chipped. Im in the Redlands Wellington Point. Thank you again everyone, I really appreciate the replies. |
Moving

Sydney

Should be a good ride with a sore bum.

Get an old dog
Not a four legged one, but an old nail of a bike, some tools and have a go at fixing it up. If it is not worth alot or even better free, you can take it to bits find out how it works and not be afraid about wreking your main bike. You never know you may even make a few quid.
