Single seat

Has anybody done a single seat conversion and used the space behind for storage/extended rear rack?
Being a billy no mates and now that my wife never goes on the back it seems a waste of space.

I had an idea to do something similar a year or so back. TT do one for the B EM UU, I'm surprised they haven't done the same for the Tenere.

It would need to go hand-in-hand with a rear rack for stability, so that might make it a bit of an expensive option, therefore less sales and not much chance of recovering to investment.. :088:

I was thinking of using the same base so that the locking mechanism at the back would still be in place for stability. The back 'unused' section of the base plate could be built on and shaped for the extended rack which would attach to the rear of the bike as with the present racks.
Yeh a real custom job me thinks!

I've toyed with various ideas, and I might even try some some day.

Although I keep coming back to thinking, while I can think of several pretty easy ways of mounting a rack above the pillion seat, I'm not entirely sure what you gain over just strapping stuff down to the seat itself ;)

Apart from not having to give anyone else a lift. Its the perfect excuse not to take a pillion and ride solo all the time!

Perhaps its just an urge to mess and a chance to make a seriously comfortable seat.

There's a perfect reason for a single seat conversion that I have frequently thought about.....you can build a metal box to attach to the top of the oem Cat/silencer to use as an oven. 20mins @ 4,500 rpm should warm yer pasties nicely!! (Shame haven't got Rowes bakery in Surrey :-( )

Bugggerrr, wish I'd kept the oem exhaust now, hot smoked salmon and scrambled egg croisants on the go, lovely.

A guy I know actually did this on a 2007(?) Fireblade with underseat exhausts. Wrapped a fish and some vegetables/seasoning up in tin foil and stuck it under the seat, then went out for a ride to cook it :D
