the loose plan is to ride direct to the first trail ... about /50 mins from tickled trout ...have a brew in settle ..after which the trails link pretty well all day or for as long as we want ...

all wee need is a aggreed meeting time .....for the trout ..if you want steve we can meet in settle after the first trail ..theres a cafe in the centre opposite the monument

stumpydave 24-09-11 11:59

Met up with Minkyhead and Stumpydave on Sunday as planned.
Went up to Dent for the Saturday evening, got into the pub for 10pm and a couple of hours R&R!
Breakfast in the farmhouse kitchen as usual and then packed up and on to meet up with the lads.
A bit drizzly to begin with but the weather broke and we had a terrific days trail riding despit me having both alloy panniers on the bike, not best suited to trailing with. Had a bit of an off when a gate post jumped out on me, but had to laugh at Minky for his erm parking!
Stumpy did well and didn't have a off all day.
Minky kept the best until last..................... there is a ford at a place called Gale, now I've passed it literally hundreds of times and never gone across it as its just soooooooooo slimy, but Minky had other ideas.
Lets put it this way I recon he slid further over it that he rode!
A bit more speed and I recon he would have made it to the other side ON HIS SIDE:rotf[1]:.
Luckily he didn't get hurt and minor damage, but bloody funny, Didn't get many pics as Stumpy and myself slithered across to get the bike upright which was a challenge in itself.
Mug of tea at Hawes before we set off home.
A great day out and pleased to meet up with Minkyhead and my thanks to you mate for showing us the trails. We must do it again and perhaps get some more of the XT crowd out.:poke1:
I'll post pics later.

Cheers to both of you for entertaining me.

minkyhead 27-09-11 00:34

well thanks for the vote steve

if you got camera out id have put me foot on it [the bike that is ] for you
the ford looked so innocent but was ruthless ...
three of us picking up the bike and the bike just slid on its wheels instead of going upright ..some brown alge **** was like ice

that said steve you were unlucky clipping the gate post
inso much they were only eight feet apart :walk1:
it was lucky you were carriing the metal mule tool kit too

strange how you get through the hard bits and then just when you think its plain sailing ...doh

still all good fun it was nice to meet you and dave and had a great day out ..lets have another day sometime soon
thanks steve

Yes Dave it is where I bust my casing in the snow, got up without incident this time though :sleepy2:

Many thanks to both Steves for their company and banter and to Minky for showing us some superb trails. A grand day in all :icon_flower:
