So what is the average per year?

My September 2011 Tenere has done 17,000 miles, a shade under 5,000 miles a year (so far).

The previous owner had done 5,000 miles on it when I bought it in October 2013.

I feel a spreadsheet coming on....

Mine's done a shade under 32000 miles (as of today) in the six years four months I've had it, which equates also equates to about 5000 a year.

I seem to remember reading that the average annual mileage covered by a UK rider is somewhere between 1500 and 2000.

Just had a little trawl and these were the last stats from an use pendent survey for UK bikes (not riders) from 2007.

"As you'd expect, people with bigger bikes make longer journeys than those with small bikes, with mopeds averaging about 3000 miles per year, 125cc bikes averaging about 3600 miles a year, and bikes over 501cc averaging about 4200 miles a year. Note that these are mileages per bike, not per rider!"

There are slightly different figures quoted by the insurance companies, but they tend to only include certain groups of bikes so are bit misleading. For example Bennetts numbers are higher, but they don't have many classics and customs on their books.

Interestingly the average annual mileage is less for a rider than it is for a bike!

Stats/Averages never tell the whole story though. I bought my XT in Dec 2013 with
10,000 miles on it. Six months later it had just under 30,000 miles on it - at which point it broke. It was repaired start of this year, has done a 100 miles or so and now sits
unused under a cover because I have been using another bike since July last.

Bike is 5 months in my ownership, have done 1600 miles.
Think about her most of the time which I shouldn't really admit.
Doh.

One day I'll get around to changing the original front pads.

Bought my xtx "05 a year ago with 6000 km's on it.
After it stood still for almost 3 years at the yamaha dealer.
Now a days it got 8600 km's on it :icon_compress:
