Bike cut out!

Was lanesplitting on my way to work today when someone in front of me was holding me up so I pulled the clutch and gave the throttle a slight twist. When the revs came back down the bike just died!
Let go the clutch but since I was in first gear all it did was lock up my rear. Switched to second and that started it again.

I could have just used the starter, but every once in a while the bike seems to have trouble starting up unless I crank it for 5+ seconds.

Now my question is, is this normal? Does your bike cut out sometimes? And how about the electrical starter? Anything I can do?

If it matters, todays event was in a tunnel and it was raining.

My XTX 07 does this now and again.
Then i have to find neutral to start it again as I'm coasting along, which it doesn't like doing.
Mind you more often than not it just does it as i come to the front of a line of cars at the lights. I've noticed it normally happens if i have just blipped the throttle a couple of times to growl at a car or pedestrian who have tried to run in to me somehow or other.
A tad embarrassing anyway. Might be a fuelling prob, as i haven't updated my power commander map for about 3 years. There is probably a better one by now. I have stage 1 & 2 filters, CCC oval cans, snorkel out, PC III, O2 eliminator, just for reference and comparisons sake.

Mine 07 standard apart from CCC cans does it, as well, with a nice hiss as it cuts out.

From memory I believe an answer to a previous similar problem was to tweak up the idle speed - 1400 - 1500rpm?????? not sure about the exact rpm either.

Mine is 100% stock so I just strikes me as odd that bikes of 2011 should still do these kinds of things.

But oh well, if it's a case of They All Do That, then I'll just try to live with it I guess

hehehe
Was raining outside before I got in the tunnel stretch, which is about 6-7km, and has small 100m openings in it. So yeah, it sorta did rain in the tunnel :p

So, tweaking up the idle speed then? Is it easy to do myself?

Edit: Nvm, found this

That procedure to get to the DIAG mode in the post I previously linked to, doesn't work.
Is there a different way of doing it on the Tenere?
