Power for relay

Hi guys im in the process off wiring in my heated grips and aux socket via a 30 amp relay and was wondering if i could take a live feed from the rear number plate light to power the relay ?

i was going to use the rear brake light but i cant find the live wire but i can on the number plate light, just getting my head around electrics so any help appreciated

The answer is YES.

That is exactly what I have done. The relay then powers up a set of fuses that then in turn power my heated grips, Heated jacket supply, Cigarette lighter up front and a small LED that shows me the battery condition.

The GPS is powered off the small connector behind the cover over the lights.

Hope this helps. Steve

cheers fellas, did you guys put a inline fuse between the gps and the connector behind the clock panel ?

I put all the fuses in one place by the Relay I fitted under the seat. Makes life simpler if they are all in one place and close to the battery.

If you fuse the connector I see no reason to use another fuse on the GPS cable - it just introduces more connections to possibly fail.

Those "hella" style DIN connector sockets are not fool-proof and can short out, so you definietly want to use a fuse between the battery/relay/connector.
