Stick some WP forks and an Ohlins rear shock on, and some lighter wheels... x

To be fair, it would be very hard to ride a 690 in the same way you would ride a 450cc enduro over tricky terrain - bulk, geometry, power delivery are all factors, which is why a 125cc 2-stroke is better in some instances, a 250 thumper in others, or a 450 for MX or hare-and-hounds, or open classer in more open/desert terrain?

Presuambly the BBRC courses are going to be more appropriate for bikes weighing in at significantly more than 150Kg, so with some sorted suspension, the Tenere is going to be just as capable as another other big bike, and as Uberthumper suggests, it is a very versatile bike away from the track...

That said, if you want to primarily race and/or mess around off road, the 690 would be a great bike, with minimal changes necessary...

Wise words JMo.

I don't really want to wreck the Ten' and need her for future long distance jollies anyhow and I'm pretty sure that's what will happen. I recall my first few enduros in '91 on a KMX 200.. Boy did I love my first KDX200E4, suspension, handling, lightness, serviceable etc etc..

I'd do a reccy, but that's it. Otherwise a 640E/690R/Husky or whatever I find for my 's at the time.

You're a bad influence. Already got 750 worth of bells-and-whistles Nitron shock in the bike, and trying to figure out when I'll have the cash to do the WP front end. I don't dare even think about wheels. :D

I should point out for the sake of clarity that I've never been to a BBRC round, and my comments above are based on what I've read, and ultimately on the same presumption Jenny has stated here.

However, if you are man (or woman x) enough, this eats everything...

Unless you want to ride snotty wet rooty trails... when you probably don't want a 690 either...

ps. Although I won't be racing the Dakar in 2012, I will be returning for the 2013 event, so still need to raise funds... so the Tenere is still for sale... and I also have a brand new (600 miles) WR450 for similar money... needs must and all that... x

sorry jenny, didn't meant to talk about you behind your back!

your 660 is the mutt's nuts and if i had the cash i think i would have bought it way back when you first offered it for sale.. sadly i didn't and still don't have the necessary disposable funds...

hope the rehab on the leg is going well.

Yes, leg is very much stronger now - got another x-ray on the 18th to see just how much...

For anyone else interested, I'm looking for 5000 for my bike, with the spares... otherwise, it may take up residence in Touratech, where I'm sure they will want considerably more for it!
