Flippin ek! Don't know if that's a reasonable price or not but it'a a lot of wonga!

I'll just order the spokes and get them fitted here, I know the labour will a lot be cheaper than that ^^^

Thanks for the info meach

I'm really glad someone started this topic as i really need to sort my rear spokes.
Has anyone tried wet&dry or emery paper?
just don't want to do it if i going to ruin them.

One thing i used to use on my pedal bike spokes was Jiff cleaner it worked wonders so may give it a whirl with a green coloured pan scrub

I'll let you know if it works

New Spokes. Stainless steel

Ive just had a set of wheels rebuilt by Shirebrook Motorcycles. Hubs and rims powder coated mat/satin black.

New stainless steel spokes fitted.
They did an excellent job.
I fitted new wheel bearings and seals and new sprocket.

cost for rebuild not including bearings/seals and rear sprocket was 303.

Wheels came of an 660x and are now on my 660r. Soon on its way with me to OZ!

Im still looking at what I can do with the front mudgard?? Any tips?

that not so bad is that for the pair?
having said that when you start totting up is it cheaper just to buy a different set of rims?

theonlyangus 03-12-11 19:46

Yes that is for the pair of wheels.
I priced about and found Shirebook Motocycles to be the best price with the fastest turn around.
When you look at the rebuild costs of the wheels against new wheels there isnt a huge of a difference. About 250

The wheels I used cost me 240 to buy. They came with excellent tyres and discs which were refitted. So another 303 for the rebuild and approx 100 for bearings ,seals, sprocket and cush drive rubbers.

Wheels look great and no more rust spokes!

Would it be ok to clean rust from spokes with emery paper and later cover them with transparent paint to protect them. Did anyone attempt this?
