How much did ya bits cost Mr.
Havin just lashed out on a shock and fork springs thought I'd tot up what I've spent on the bike and shiney trinkets, in the two and a half years I've had it, not counting tyres and servicing which run at about 300.

hi just done a suspension upgrade ...i havnt fitted the ohlins yet as they are not here
id be interested to rear your views ... i was surprised by the nitron shock heres my e mail to them and reply ..strange indeed hi im wondering if you have any suggestions for a xt 660z tenere ... i use the bike fitted witth tks and rarely go over 80mph on the road i use it for trail riding on some pretty rough terrain ..the present setup is too soft on and off road and has no adjustable rebound damping im looking for somthing that will be more compliant when the suspension is worked hard on bumpy ground ..and to stop it kicking back on the road its nor clear from your pr weather you cater for this sort of riding ..a honest answer is apprieciated i am aroiun 115 kilos suited and booted the bike from time to time will carry around 25kilos at the rear off road but no pillions thanks steve reply Dear Steve, Thank you for your email. Unfortunately we do not have a specification for your machine. I have raised this spec with design department. If a specification can be developed we will contact and update you of the situation. Sorry that we are unable to assist at this time, all the best. Regards, Mark Tapscott Sales & Marketing Manager Nitron Racing Systems Unit 20, Avenue One Station Lane Witney |
I think I must have been lucky and bought a Tenere with good shocks
The standered set up once you set it up seems rather good . That said I'm a tight Yorkshire man and don't like spending money on Bling :icon_eek: |
Now you got me worried......

Minky, Nitron list the xt660z on their website, think it was Tom(?) off this site who had first one not so long ago, depends when you emailed them?
Dazzer, fiddled with the settings ,not that there's much to play with, and the stock stuff is OK I just thought WTF and heart ruled head for once. Will see if it's worth it, though if the roads keep on crumbling at the rate they're going it should be money well spent. Gas, kerrr chinggg, maybe remane the thread "Don't let the missus see". I really don't like to analyse this kind of thing but by todays prices 6k is still good value. To put this into perspective my mate bought a few new sports bikes changing a 9r, for zx10 and then summit else rekons he lost 14k in three years, ouch. |

Hagon Progessive Fork Springs
Hi there, i have the Hagon front springs and 15w oil in my Ten . I didnt fit them myself but i had no spacers in and they seem to be ok, although i dont go off road . Also how long did your rear shock last before it went off, and would Hagon have rebuilt it but with a new spring ?

how is the low er speed riding with the hagons ?? i was just wondering about the spacers i guess ill have to wait i read somwhere on here that the shock is not rebuildable but i am not sure on that point its done 11000 miles .. it was ok mostly but was kicking back on sharper bumps .. on the road .. assuming it was possible ? re oiled and gassed for 100 quid with say a further 50/60 for a spring ..but in all honesty id still be guessing a bout the spring and still have minmum adjustment i wanted more adjustment on it .. setting the rebound stops the harshness ..i think it was packing down .. ..not rebounding enough before the next hit .. ..it was deffo getting worse thats for sure on the road the hagon is loads loads better ..and the preload is only set at around 30 percent so theres loads left for err loads on price and road performance its looking real good ive yet to try it off road .. because of the above **** up the front was poor soggy ..in to a steep dip off road ..it had a job to lift the suspension at all ..a couple of times its packed down and i could see from looking through the gaiters were compressed and not able to lift the weight as it should .... eccesive dive under braking and some pretty nasty kick back here and there on double bumps in the road .. just experimenting at the moment ..i was wondering if 15 oil would slow the compression down too much off road ..i guess the answer will be in the springs each of us has fitted im thinking the bigger the hit the stronger the resitance from the progresives so the stronger the bounceback .. i dont ride that hard off road but i do ride some pretty rough trails if thats makes sense ..so i want the suspension to still retain a eliment of softness but with more resistance ....im concerned at getting to much bouce back ..with front or indeed rear rebound adjustment to keep it in check rightly or wrongly in me own minds eye im thinking the liniers may prove better at preventing this ..plus a little trust in the ohlins brand to get it right .. anyway im waffling now all i can do is get the bits on and go try it out im optamistic http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/5605/moroff1.jpg By minkyhead at 2011-07-08 |
Top Trumps...

Suspension
Have just seen your pictures, thats some serious terrain your riding on. Hope your mods are successful . The springs should stop the diving and enable the forks to soak up the next bump much better .
