Warnig temperature light???

Hallo, have 2008 xtx, last year my water pump fall apart, took my xt to servis and they repaired it with some sort of repairing kit! Everything was all wright untill today!

Two day ago temperature lamp went on after ridin my bike for 1 km. I stopped on the gass station and chacked the liquid (it vas lukewarm) and it was full of water. I took my xt to mechanic to see what was happening...
He left xt running several times for 30 min, everithing was normal, fan turned on, normal temperature and the lamp didnt go on! The only thing he seid was that the oil was to rare and mybe te motor is owe rheating! Ok he replaced the oil tested it again and everithing was ok!

As my bike was in the garege we check evri single thing on bike!
20 000km!

All things we replace:

oil, filters, spark plug, oil in forks (from 10 to 15), rear sprocket, chain

and everithing was perfect, xt was runing smoodly!

As I was coming back home, temperature lamp went on again and radiator cap was driping coolant liquid! I stopped wait motor to cool down for 1 h, and went home (3 km) wery slowly!

Before I go to sevice on manday, I would like to know, what could be the problem!!

My gues:

1. Termostat?
2. Coolant temperature sensor?
3. May be there is air in the sistem? How to irradiate the cooling sistem?

Thanks!

Might be the radiator cap.

May be it is, but the first two of three times that lamp went on nothing was leaking and the third time just few drops!
But I will check it on monday!

The warning light is a temperature light, what is the reading in the dash when the light come on? It should be reading 110 degree C if the light is on.

Use a thermometer & measure the water temperature in the radiator & compare it to the reading from the temperature sensor in the dash, are they reading the same temperture?

There was no reading on the dash the first two times! I took the radiator cap of and i could put my finger in the cooling liquid! But third time er 1 and er 2 come up!
Problem is that the light only come up when I am raiding the bike (after 1 km), when the bike is in one place just running in neutral, everithing is ok???

Go into the diagnostic mod in the dash to read the actual coolant temp. Do a search on Diag mode there are heaps of threads on how to enter the dash to obtain information.

By doing the coolant temp test will determine if your bike is actually over heating or do you a electrical problem.
