XT660 vs Raptor, which parts will fit?
Im thinking of putting on a big bore kit to a XT660 but there dont seem to be that many. Although there seem to be alot of parts for a raptor, which according to my knowledge, should have the same engine.
So from what years of a raptor 660/700 can i take cylinder sleeve and piston from? Would it be bolt on or would i have to change more parts? How much would a 686cc sleeve and a 11:1 comp piston affect the durability of the bike? Would it still be a bike that you could use in daily or would the extra cc and higher compression be to much for the engine? Thanks in advance for the help :) |

But i also have some more questions. Does the raptor 660 share the exact same cylinder as the xt660? Is it possible to use a cylinder head from a raptor 660 on a xt660? If so, from what year of raptor fits the xt660 -07? |
[quote=Snowman;157117]Thanks. Found some answers.
But i also have some more questions. Does the raptor 660 share the exact same cylinder as the xt660 no it does not? Is it possible to use a cylinder head from a raptor 660 on a xt660 I have seen a Raptor 660 5V head fitted to a Raptor 700 motor with modifications done to the head to make it fit? If so, from what year of raptor fits the xt660 -07 Why would want to fit a 5V head, it is proven fact you can get more HP out of a 4V head. |
the HYBRIDS that have been done use a Raptor 660(5v) cases while using a Raptor 700 (4v) cylinder and head
The raptor 700 cylinder has to be modified slightly to fit (the 6mm screw holes need to be offset by 2 mm.) My recommendations for a big bore conversion would be to run a OEM RAPTOR 700 cylinder and your choice of either OEM piston or 11:1 CP. If you decide to run the OEM cylinder id recommend to mill the cylinder to increase compression and tighten up deck height |
