Rear axis shock absorbers?

Do you guys have experience of rear axis shock absorbers? Or to be precise, how do they wear out?

My bike was at service for rear tyre change and engineer told me that those rubber absorbers are loose and there was a bit rubber chaff. He was sprised that they were in that shape already, since my bike only has 10.000km driven. He said I should not worry unless back end feels strange, but adviced that those absorbers would be changed in next service.

Short answer: Yes they're rubbish and do not last very long.

In English they are normally described as "cush drive rubbers" (as in 'cushion'). If you try searching using those terms on the forum you will find how other people have improved their life using inner-tube rubber.
