A good 08 XTZ on ebay at the mo in Yorkshire for 3.5k with all the luggage. If you buy it it will stop me looking:)
I am waiting for all the higher mileage Z's to come on stream. Its a bit of a novelty seeing 20k+ miles bikes being so much cheaper after owning BM's. In BM land mileage is a badge of honour:)

haha! much cheaper I expect....Thanks for the heads up wrigsby1 ! I will check it out, Any ideas which is cheaper to insure...X or Z?

Tony660x 24-05-11 19:13

I am pretty certain the X is cheaper. Its not easy to do a like for like, I have a 6mth old Z and paid about 160 fully comp, I had a new X and paid 130 fully comp. Of course they were not at the same time, I had the X first, sold it, had winter off and then got the Z after. Thats gone now as well I have an older X again and due to its low'ish value only have in third party fire and theft for 75 a year.

wow, I need to age a few years untill mine becomes that low i think. Im only 19 so insurance like to sting me badly...1100, thats the best I can get anywhere...fully comp with my own policy. Insurance is ridiculous for young people!

Wrigsby1 24-05-11 20:54

The insurance groups seem the same but the repair or replace costs will be more for the Z so it will be a bit more. I guess with 1k insurance costs a percentage up is a major factor. The one biggest factor that will improve your price is NCB so try to keep it right way up and if you do minor damage, don't claim.

Also XT's of any description are better than sports bikes to insure...

Sadly for young 'eens the crash stats weigh heavily against you across the board. Good luck!

I gorgot to mention I dont have any NCB as I did not have either long enough to gain 1 year NCB, those prices are for zero NCB, no issues on a clean license, age 38-39.

Its your age so I can see its a valid question to us oldies! One advantage about getting on in years!

tomhalsall1991 24-05-11 23:41

Yeah because the majority of my age group choose to rally around on 4 wheels like D**ks! Oh well, not to worry...I have my first years NCB, that dropped it a few hundred pounds.

I know how you feel, i passed my test and looked at restricting a Suzuki GSXF 600, third party only was 2800, 200 more than the cost of the bike. And to make matters even worse i bought a 1991 Kawasaki ZZR 250, restricted only cost 1000, insurance, third party only 800.

Ive only ever been able to get fully comphresive below 1000 when i was 21 and had 3 years no claims. Plus living in Northern Ireland every insurance company thinks its a bombing place so up the insurance.

uberthumper 25-05-11 17:47

Erk! I think I paid about 350 TPO for my first year on a 125 (aged 19, no NCB), and that steadily declined to the point I was paying about 240 TPFT for my ZXR400 and GS400 on a multibike policy (aged about 23).

It's gone up again a bit in the last few years, because I've bought newer bikes, and also crashed my old DR800 a few years back. Still only about 350 TPFT for the Ten, the ZXR, and the GasGas. I am 29 now though :D

tomhalsall1991 25-05-11 18:57

@maxwell - its a joke isnt it! to make it worse, when i informed most companies that the bike would be restricted, it upped the price by about a grand, because it is classed as a modification...ridiculous, BUT - I definitely get my monies worth for the amount i ride my bike and the fun I have on it :) At 19 yrs old theres no way its gonna cost less than 1k really....

Just out of interest what company are you with? Im with Express Insurance
