Good work, Minky! Looks like a great trip, and I confess to being envious. Thanks for sharing it with us, mate.

hi steve, great videoes etc, between here and [cough]. have been following your trip, bloody great! thanks for sharing.

even with your knackered chain/ sprocket the chain stay on?

minkyhead 14-05-11 19:40

yes thanks .. it limped me in to quazzerate but was making a real bad clatter at the end ..it was that spiked it broke off five skinny teeth

its me own fault ,,i think mixing the regina chain with new sprockets did it .. ive never seen a sprocket so bad in 30k miles let alone 9 k miles

looking at the wear it really was eccesive .. so i replaced the whole lot with with a new did for good measure

i really was carful with the tension and the chain was well looked after ive never seen one as bad ... i thought i had a tight spot on the chain

..and when i checked it you could pull it 5ml back off the rear sprocket ..

.so the chain guide i copied off you may well have done me a favour ...it all seemed to go over a couple days up until then it had seemed to be fine fine ..
i was using jt sprockets which are decent aftermarket stuff ive used on many bikes but whatever it was that did it it was bad

i considered after i chucked it weather i had the wrong pitch sprocket fitted ..now ill never know

anyway all is good after one 5km adjustment the did sailed on for 2500 miles with no further attention

we live we learn ...but regina chain is off my xmas card list thats for sure

any way it gave me a day off ..and chance to blow up a moped with no ignition lights mirrors front brake or oil warning light ..

serves em right ...:laughing11:

Pff, that sprocket is still good for 1000 km, this is how my sprocket looked like after 17000 km, and this was still drivable:
