Help Accessing The XT660Z Rear Shock... Newbie Question ;)

After years on a DRZ400 I finally upgraded to the 660 Tenere this week. I am trying to soften up the suspension for off road use and while the front forks were easy to adjust, I am having trouble accessing and adjusting the rear shock.

Is there a special tool for turning the spring preload ring?

Any help will be welcome :eusa_dance:

Yes there is. There is a C spanner in the toolkit (under the seat) for adjusting the shock.

Space to do the job is very tight, but it is possible after some thought!

Welcome along by the way, why not put a short post in the Newbies Lounge to introduce yourself :signthankspin:

You know, there's actually loads of room if you come at it from the offside and use the peg end of the c-spanner to pop out the two plastic pins that hold the rubber shock splash guard in place, and then fold it out of the way...

Nice one. I'll try it.

There is a flat bar that you can put the C Spanner into and get more leverage , i have a centre stand on mine so it takes the weight off . I dont know if that makes it easier ? . When you have done it once its easy .
