Just about to fit mine but was just wondering if anyone has had to make any adjustments to idle speed or fueling etc as a result of fitting these?

OK, I've had a go at fitting now. Problems encountered include removing bolts for the o2 sensor shield on the old exhaust (filed them off in the end) and lining up the head pipes - its as if they are too far apart from each other if that makes sense, all seems a bit tight and 'forced' for my liking but may just be my example. Problem I'm going to have now is trying to get the pipe not to touch the frame where it goes through the inside (just below the rear brake reservoir). Instructions suggest to ensure there is a gap there but i could struggle with that. Everyone else manage to keep that gap there?

I fitted my (second hand) MM 2:1 this weekend. The fitment was easy enough with that left inside manifold nut being the only awkward ish thing. The Lambda sensor just needs a big 22mm spanner on it once the shield is removed, and both bands on the silencer fitted easily - until I read this thread I didn't even realise that it was difficult to fit the second band. The rear brake master cylinder is held on with zip ties as no bracket was included - will be ordered from MM along with a sump guard. The end of the silencer is close to the indicator, but after a 50 miles run today all seems OK.

The moment I moved the bike the weight loss was noticeable which is what I was after. My wife has an XT660r too and she is keen on making her bike lighter so I will be on the look out for another system. The system is very loud though which the wife is not keen on and even less so after she rode mine, but she did like the weight loss. Any thoughts on how to make system quieter.

On the road it definitely feels quicker, but then loud bikes are always faster than a quiet one. It seems to pull harder at low revs although surging on a steady throttle at 30mph seems worse.

Overall, a big improvement but it does seem loud.

They are louder than the Yamaha system...
but not to loud....
There is a baffle in the end.... Yours being 2nd hand is it still
there?..With out it they do bark a bit...

Thanks.

I am either getting used to it now, or after a bit of use everything has settled in as it does seem to have quietened down. Popping on overrun and surging also seems to be settling down so any little leaks must have got enough carbon in to seal as well.

It looks like there's a baffle in the end, unless there's another back at the join to the headers.

I've had my MM 2-1 System fitted for a couple of months now. Great system if you're looking to lighten the bike up, it feels more nimble without the very heavy stock cans fitted.

Due to the shape of the back end of the XTX it now looks slightly lopsided if viewed from the left, and if you don't mount the spacers correctly you may find the rear tyre rubbing on the inside of the MM can if you're prone to jumping speed humps.

The pipe is louder than I expected, even with the baffle fitted. It's probably even slightly louder than many other bikes I often ride with. This is great for getting the attention of cagers who are busily updating their facebook or eating their cereal on the commute to work, but unfortunately the backfiring and blue flames have the potential to attract the wrong kind of attention.

For me it's love-hate. It annoys me that the bike looks lopsided, and that it is obnoxiously loud, but I love that it's 10kg lighter, love that it sounds like I'm racing to Dakar even at 50kp/h and love that there's very little danger of denting my pipes if I feel the need to navigate a nature strip, set of stairs or a round-about.
