Home made bead breaker for tubed/tubeless tyres

Found this on youtube after struggling with breaking the bead on my K60 rear tyre.
And it works really well! So simple just 2 pieces of wood.

This does'nt always work , a G clamp is much easier and smaller so you can carry one with you

fark how much waffle.... cut to the chase!
Luving the HSE overkill with gloves when cutting the wood in a vice lol just use a foot to hold it down on a brick and hack away with a blunt wood saw... far more fun..
Must remember not to try that with the missus'ssss fiesta and its placcy sills ..:pottytrain5:
Note some tyres are *****es to break the bead and leaver off especcially when stiff and cold, remember getting chap on the Hill to remove the T63 rear on my old 660 and even with the kit poor chap had a bit of a sweat on.. I'd fitted it myself to much cursing and pinched tubes ...

'' a G clamp is much easier and smaller so you can carry one with you''

I agree a g clamp would be better, I must get one that fits as you are right it would be easier to carry.
The 2 clamps I have would not fit, one was too small to get over the tyre and the other didnt have enough thread to push the soft walled tyre out the groove.

I think the video shows a good technique for getting those stubborn tyres off the bead whether its a block of wood/fence post or tools you have at hand.

Use the tools you have with you (or buy a G-clamp, much easier)

Here is a thread on how I break the bead on tougher tyres, it's never failed me yet, although as Jasext says, a g-clamp would be easier.

Fitted Conti TKC80's to the Tenere. First tyre took three hours, second tyre took 30 mins and the third tyre... well, that only took twenty minutes. I can assure you that the air was blue when, as I packed all my tools up, I discovered a rim protector was missing. back into the tyre, and there it was. What a t***pot.

Here is a pic of my trick to break the bead on stiffer tyres like the Metzeler Tourances.

So, my long Buzetti tyre leaver in, then push the shorter Motion Pro lever between that and the rim with a short 3/8 socket extension under the lot and some serious welly.

It was one of these home made rim protectors that I forgot in the wheel. They are just lengths of hose cut down the middle.
