Xt660z

Hi. Can anyone help me out with installing an gipro x-type on a xt660z. I have looked everywhere for instructions but haven't found any.

If anyone has done this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi,

Saw your post on the above subject and if you are still struggling to find info email the manufacturer direct at HealTech Electronics < support@healtech-electronics.com>

They recently sent me full instructions and a photo of the ecu wiring for a Yamaha XJ6 I was fitting a gear indicator to. It helped immensely.

Hope this helps,

Sandman.

Here is the direct link to the GPX-Y01 harness fitting instructions:

FYI - The speedo sensor coupler on the Tenere sits just by the inlet valve inspection cover.

Fitting Healtech GI X Pro Gear Indicator to XT660Z Tenere (mine 2009)
Hi,
When fitting a Healtech GIX Pro gear indicator on the XT660Z Tenere (2009) the speed sensor wires exit the crankcase behind the starter motor near the midline, and run up to the triple plug and socket attached to the right frame bar under the gas tank, to the right of the inlet valve port. You need to remove the gas tank to access the wiring. Undo the plug and insert the speed sensor plugs there. You can't go wrong,it is the only triple wire plug there.
The crankshaft position sensor wires exit the crankcase behind the starter motor, well to the left, with three white wires from the alternator in the harness (5 wires total in the harness). The sensor wires are not grey and black there, they are green/white and blue/yellow. The harness runs to the right above the gearbox and enters a soft plastic shroud just inboard of the rear brake fluid reservoir. In that shroud there are connection plugs for all the wires from the prop stand, the neutral gear indicator, the alternator, and the crankshaft position sensor wires. At that point the sensor wires attach to a double plug, and the exit wires from that plug are grey and black, as described in the Healtech brochure. Attach the green and black GIpro wire to that grey wire using the snap connector. Lastly attach the red power wire to supply voltage to the gear indicator to a switched 12v supply using the other snap connector, as suggested the wire to the rear stoplight switch. All done.
So, the difficulty arises from the Healtech brochure describing the grey and black wires from the crankshaft position sensor as exiting the crankcase, which they do not, they are only grey and black from the plug inside the soft shroud behind (medial to) the rear brake fluid reservoir.
It took me quite a few hours to do mine, including time to figure out where the crankshaft position sensor "grey and black wires" were. But it all works OK.
Aldon.
