closing Spanish factory
At first the Tenere was made in Italy, then last year the production moved to Spain. Now the production is moved again, to MBK in France, because the Yamaha factory in Spain is closed(around 400 people out of their jobs!). So, still hard times for Yamaha, when will it change to the better? And will the move have any influence on quality(for the worse or better)?

Not good news for Yamaha & the workers.
I can't buy a newer than 2009 XT660X, Yamaha Australia are no longer importing them, so I will be forced next year to buy another brand, as I want a motard again. |
Kev, this is interesting, any ideas on if/how this will affect the availability of the XT660Z Tenere longer term (2012+) in Australia?
I would have thought the XT660 line was quite profitable for Yamaha - a lot of bikes from a very similar platform. |
Is this connected to the closure of the Derbi factory in Spain? heard about that on MotoGP. It's a shame as the Derbi name is important in the history of World Championship racing and has always been Spanish (production is also moving to Italy, to the Piaggio parent company)
