CCC exhausts and MOT???
Hi, need a little help please.
I've been away for a couple of years and a friend has basically been storing my bike. It was newish when i last saw it, so didn't need an MOT. Now it will. I have standard length stainless Oval CCC's on the bike, an 07 XTX. Does anyone know if these will pass an MOT, or will i need to put the standard ones back on? Also what about the K&N filters and power commander etc, will these affect the exhaust analysis at all. Many thanks for any help. I can't wait to get back on my XTX, and i'm hoping this will not delay me any longer than necessary. Nick |

There is no exhaust gas check other than a visual its not burning oil. As long as the cans have the baffles in you will pass the MOT. Some testers may comment if they are too loud and may put an advisory on it but it will pass.
I had this dilemma but mine were the louder CCC stubbies so I took them off for the MOT as I was certain I would get an issue as I know the guys there as they are a main Yamaha agent so did not risk if for a 10 minute job. |
if your ccc's are stamped with a bs number and have the baffles in then theres no reason why it shouldnt pass mot.
as far as i no theres no emissions test for motorcycles so your pc and filters shouldnt affect it either, just make sure if youve a stage 2 dna that you cover or remove the "not for road use"!! |
Relieved
Many thanks for your replies. That is a huge relief. Otherwise i'd have to drag the original zorts right from east London to Middlesex on the train to get them swapped. I love my CCC's, so want to keep them on and let them continue to save my life and the lives of dopey pedestrians in central London.
My neighbours probably don't share my enthusiasm as i set off all the car alarms on the street in the morning. Ho hum. Thanks again, my mind is at rest again. |
Thanks for the not for road use reminder too. I have scrubbed it out with a knife, but might just give it another check to make sure its totally illegible.

i bought a chrome cover for mine that hides it with a bit of bling too. i know it came off here somewhere but cant remember who was making them, might be worth you doing a search?

That stage 2 aifilter cover was designed and sold by Worrybrother. I think he has ceased production now he is no longer an XT owner.
Send him and email via the forum and he may respond & may have stock. It certainly covers the "not for road use" part at the bottom of the filter. Alternatively just file off the wording, its only a plastic/rubber type material so is easily removed. |

Thanks Tony, I knew it was off here, just couldnt remember who. My memorys not how it used to be!! |
I have :CCC: carbon longs with PCIII, stages 1&2, drilled airbox, rebreather mod, snorkel removed on my 2004
R and it has passed the MOT like that for the last three years. Make sure you have the baffles in - the BSAU stamp is only valid with baffles.

more reassurance, much appreciated.:045::045::045:

I know the mot rules state that if the exhaust is louder than that of a standard car/bike ie modified exhaust systems producing more noise than the standard system is a fail but it is down to the tester to make the decision as we do not use decimeters when testing, Took mine for a test last week and it passed with ccc stubbys on no problem
page from testers manual http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m1s07000101.htm |
I have a 2005 XTX with CCC carbon ovals, standard air filter.
I take it to an official Yamaha dealers for the MOT Last year it passed but I got an advisory stapled to the certificate saying loud exhaust. This year it passed, no advisory. Same dealer, same tester, same exhausts. |
Just got back from holids this afternoon and had a nasty shock! My MOT expired while i was away and i was looking forward to getting out on the bike this weekend, gutted!! Anyways i got caught out as my insurance and tax lasts until the end of this month but the MOT was end of last month. O well no big deal i will just have to ring all the test center in the morning and find out who can fit me in this weekend at such short notice. I was worried about the full Stainless Scorpion 2 into 1 exhaust but it passed the MOT when i first bought it and i have left in the baffle so hoping i wont have any problems. Will report back once i get it done, or not as the case may be :-)

Just got back from my MOT. It sailed through. They didn't even look at my exhaust so i guess you can do what ya like with a bike. Great:popcorn2:
