beefing up the bars and stupid bashplate

ive been wondering if to bother with engine bars
i wanted them fitted but each brand had negeleted either
the radiator..the water pump none of them did both jobs too well

i burst a radiator on me drz a few years ago
i know its pretty rare but i dont want any showstoppers if i can help it
on me holidays

i decided to go with motech as i wanted to keep the lower bars and was pretty sure i could re hang them

the yam bashplate took a minor knock and sheared off at the rear
it really is a crap design ....grr

so beefing up all round

i removed all the suff and cut the hangars from the engine bars

by luck they fitted the motech bars pretty well
i just had to mark grind them to refit the bars for welding

with the flanges left on you can get a lot of weld in and although not to pretty they aint going anywhere soon

acoat of halfords finest and were good to go

the rear bash plate lugs are pathetic ..folded alloy is going to be weak
a really cheap design

so a simple steel cradle with the plate bolted under didnt take too long to make and offers support for the bash plate as well as being much stronger

being paranoid now ive used high impact body armour pads to wrap around the pump and crank casiings
strangley they fit real well bolt to the belly pan and lower panel on the pump side
and bash plate and sprocket housing [with spacer ]on the crank side
