Back from West Africa
Hi guys,
I just got back from my 3,5 month tour of West Africa. The Ten did wonderfully, only a bend radiator (217 euro), 2 left crash plastics (60 euro) and a rear brake disc (106 euro). No mechanical things, not even a flat tyre after 16000 km. One rear heidenau K60: 11300km (but my friends just wrote they got 18000km out of one) and one T63 at 5000 km Front all on a TKC80, is good for 20000km if needed. Please have a look at my blog on http://tony-westafrica.blogspot.com/ And my friends site is also worth visiting, 2 doctors on tenere's on their way to DRC and then back up the east coast: http://www.roamingafrica.be/ Greetz, Tony |
Great video, really awesome!! Thanx! What a coincidence to meet two fellow Belgians on two Teneres! Where did you sleep, in tents or small hostels? Anyway, the Tenere seems at home in that part of the world.
Thanx again, greetz, Hans. |
Amazing. Thanks for sharing! :038:

I followed you on your blog and your trip looks amazing!!! Unfortunately our paths didn't cross as discussed as we are still at home (but not for long :) ).
I'm glad that the Tenere proved really tough and you didn't had any problems. Cheers, Ionut |

And due to you guys, no vehicle is allowed to depart at Dakar. See post on ADV .
Jammin thru global south page 67. (Grimaldi line) as it seems had to pay a fine on your behalf. Cheers |
Thats some great video,
But Lahami is right, because you couldn't respect the laws of a country you were guests in you've destroyed other peoples opportunitys to enter the country the same way. |
great video

It's a long story, but Grimaldi is a very big company that was not able to help us once we unloaded in Dakar, they had no clue whatsoever and it was clear we were about pay a lot of 'fees' that we just didn't had to pay. We went to the office of Grimaldi Dakar and even the big boss there didn't know what to do with us. They ship containers worldwide but can't handle 2 bikes? And if they really had to pay a big fine, I'm sure we would know, I live 15 km from the Grimaldi Belgium office, and they have all of our details. I'm very sorry that they closed that line, but this is their resposibility. In the end it was a misunderstanding about 150 euro/bike! Seems a weak argument to close a line. Like I said, I know a lot more about this, it's a long story but I'll leave it at this. A least Jay got to the other side of the pond and is in Africa now. |
Fair explanation. Sorry for jumping to conclusions.

Like the video, takes me back to my Moroccan trip a couple of years ago. I particularly like the music, nice!
