Anybody making Tail tidys?

Hey guys, the more i look at the back of my bike the more im thinking it resembles a baboons ass with nice exhausts... any one selling? or got a good website i can take a ganders at?

richardsracingmad 03-02-11 17:04

no there isn't, but Worry Brother may have some.

You could make your own, or adapt say an R&G one

richmiester 03-02-11 17:06

That one is for the X/R by Puig!

All the ones for the Z I've seen look naff...

GStry 03-02-11 18:50

I am making one but it will go with my storage mod.

richardsracingmad 03-02-11 20:53

can't work it our how that Puig one fits...........?????????

I realize that you would have to chop bits out of the rear guard...but still can't see it.

I saw it a few months back when I was looking for a tail tidy, and no-one had bought one/tried one then

Maybe it's time for someone to be daring!

Here's one I tidied earlier...

That's because it would appear the picture that M&P have on their website is not of an actual XT item!! This is the one I guess you'd get if you ordered one...

That looks pretty pointless? unless you just want to remove the weight of the big chunk of metal behind the stock light - which you can do anyway with no detrimental effect...

JMo, I remember you had a thread on these indicators but I can't seem to find it. If you have the link can you post it please?

Thanks
Denny

Hi Denny - I had a good look round myself, but for the life of me can't remember where is was - it might have been one of the photo threads that I updated while I was in the US (rather than my own thread?)...

Basically though, they are a strip of LEDs in a rubbery plastic surround - made/sold by the same company that do 'neon' underlight kits and tyre flies, that kinda thing...

Anyway, these are sold as a pair for turn signals (in orange), and I simply removed the exhaust shields, drilled a series of holes (very carefully I might add!) and siliconed them into the holes...

You'll also need to use some sort of flasher relay to reduce the flash rate as the LEDs offer far less resistance...

I also did away with the front indicators (and side lights), and wired the side lights as the indicators with Orange LEDs (later swapped to conventional orange bulbs, as they worked with the reflector better)...
