Any way to get the header clamps (by footpeg) off ?
Got some new second hand cans today, but they're not with the clamps for the headers to the midsection.
People just using jubilee clips as a compromise ? Looking at my clamps on std cans, i can't see them coming off as welded on the underside ? |
Hmmmm loads on Ebay. Cool. Cheap as you like too.
http://motors-parts.shop.ebay.co.uk/...=p3286.c0.m282 What's the Diameter i need please gents, don't have anything to measure it easily. |
Hmmm i get it to be about 46mm using my crude measuring of a 145mm diameter.

hiya....do you mean that your existing ones are welded to the pipes??
anyways..a jubilee is not a strong enough clamp as they are only soft alloy...you need a stainless clamp.....why not give the ex-CCC guy a pm...Simon Cope..to buy a couple, they should not cost too much. his new company is called POWERTECH 01253 891087 OK??/ Happy modding!!!!:grouphug5: |
Yup, existing ones do not seem to want to move... looking on the underside they seem to be 'stuck' there (opposite side to bolt/clamp) so i'm assuming some sort of little weld etc.
Will do mate... thanks :) |
they shouldn't be welded on.....
|
Hmmmmm maybe a little brute force is needed then :)
|
bit of wood/plastic and a hammer round the edges evenly...or just try to rotate it a little to start...
try not to crack your headers tho........maybe take the headers off to do it, and get some new manifold gaskets? |

Tried... doesn't want to know... Seems on the underside it's crimped with a punch of some description. To save doing any damage i've ordered 2 stainless clamps in a 43-47mm. Should hopfully fit. |
