Hyperpro Suspension

Does anyone have expereience (good or bad) with Hyperpro supension off road on the Ten'?

I got in contact with them and seems to me like they're not so sure about off road improvements.

With Ohlins @ 1k for the lot, the Hypropro is much more reasonable as long as it means the Ten' is no longer a soggy monster off road..

Thx

Not with the Ten, but I fitted Hyperpro front springs to my Caponord and they made a huge difference.
I went to Nitron in Witney, Oxford for my rear shock. I can very much recommend them. It's just a shame they don't do fork springs :( I think I'll be looking at either RaceTech or Ohlins springs come next year.

I have HyperPro, front & rear.....

The front made a huge difference, much much more focused. The rear, well the first thing I noticed was the bike was sitting up lots more, my feet didn't touch the ground as well, so I concluded that the old spring had way too much sag.

On the whole, for the 200 (max price, it should cost more like 160 from memory ??) it's a worth while improvement.

However, the HyperPro comes with setup instructions and new oil, the oil is 5 rather than the Yamaha 15 so this could make a difference too I guess (I might hev the weights the wrong way round here, it's been one of 'them' days and my brain isn't functioning quite right!!)

Thanks gents.

I was planning the whole rear shock and front springs, which is where I got the amount from.

I suspect the 15wt oil was the Hyperpro as it's thicker than the standard 5wt that Yamaha put in..

Got them to, front and rear (complete shock), but didn't have a chance yet to put in the front springs.

As GULG sais: the rear is quite a bit higher. I'll first put in the front springs and then start fiddling with it. I did turned the damping to full open which is still a bit more firm then the standard. I didn't have a chance to test it on anything else then motorway and speed bumps.

The spec sheet says 'road' somewhere so I assume damping range is different then an 'off-road' spec? ... if such excists... 'cos I haven't been asked about the intended use when I ordered it...

GULG: how do the hyperpro's behave off-road?

Well within my capabilities !

I found them to wash out much less, the front does appear to keep in line better and a little more feedback.

Braking is funny. as the front doesn't dive withthe same 'lurch' but more controlled, you have to adjust yourself to get the best out of the brakes (I would gauge the braking by the distance of the front end dive, so I had to recalibrate my brain!)

It's much better on the 'c' road twisties, and can take on the moutian roads with loads of confidence too. Although with TCK's on the bike, the funny wear is a little more extreme than before the Hyperpro change.

I've got the Hyperpro on the front (back is the hlins) and I was impressed in Morocco when driving the piste. With the original springs I had a couple of times a full "snap-through", with the Hyperpros no topic at all. I'm glad I invested in these.

As I expected - once you've improved the suspension only good things can happen!

And you never wanna go back to the stock suspensions anymore on any bike ;-)

Kev 22-12-10 11:41

I swear by these springs, they make a big difference to any bike.

enduro374 22-12-10 11:48

I've had Ohlins on track bikes and professionally re-worked WR suspension - both were simply fantastic..

I'm after better off road capabilities (stiffer, less bottoming out etc) and it would appear that both the Hyperpro and Ohlins are seen as a road biased modification.

Either way the improvement will be there and given the cost of the liquid gold used in the casting by Ohlins, I figure a set of Hyperpro is in order.

Thanks for the comments..

I am very pleased with the WP suspension on my track TRX.
For the track SV before that I used Hyperpro springs which were a big improvement over stock as well.

But for the Ten I opted for Wilbers. Progressive Springs in front and a 641 shock in the back. They'll be delivered early January. I'll post my experiences with them on the forum.

enduro374 22-12-10 12:08

Wilbers?

Do you have a link with pic's?

duibhceK 22-12-10 12:23

You can get them from Off-the-road.

fork springs
shock

the shock that OTR offers is the 640 version. I wanted the 641 as it has separate hi-lo speed dampening settings.

I ordered mine via Mojomoto.be from Bitubo race service in The Netherlands because they offered me a very nice price and I've had very good experiences with them in the past.

enduro374 22-12-10 12:23

Got them:

http://wilberssuspension.co.uk/products.php

Ten' needs a 641 rear shock @ 585 inc
Has remote reservoir, rebound, high & low speed & pre-load adjustments.
Progressive springs are 85 inc oil etc..

Prices going up in Jan..

springs

Hello!

I dont get it, is there only ONE spring rate fore the xt660z?

For my KTM 640 adventure, I bought the right springs for my type of riding and weight. 48 Nm in the front and 75 Nm on the shock.

off course I can change it with the spring pre load adjuster, but that's just for the sag.

Kev 16-01-11 00:41

Me neither the correct way is a selection of different rated springs to suit riders weight & riding conditions.
