That's how I charge mine, through a permanent 12V socket (although mine is DIN type) - works a treat, very easy to hook up and no additional Optimate socket needed. Why fit an Optimate socket/plug when you can use what you've got already? ;)

Yep, just cut the plug off the Optimate lead and wired the new plug on.

The Optimate 2 will do an effective maintenance job for you and I believe the current kit comes with a 12v Cigarette/DIN plug combo lead anyway!
