duibhceK 14-11-10 20:48

ooh shiny!

seat looks very nice as well. How hard/soft is it compared to the original?

Mike Wright 14-11-10 20:50

Nice bike you added a few extras there

I had the seat for the last 15'000km so far and it's super-comfy, no hurting ass after whole day driving around anymore.

Gerhard Beukes 14-11-10 22:51

i like the looks PLUS PLUS!!!.
Will you be entering the Dakar with all those mods?

HAHA! No, my bike is for travelling and fun purposes only :-)
I wouldn't dare entering the Dakar with this bike and my driving experience.

Cheers, Mike

Ni3ous 15-11-10 20:34

UAU, quite few mods.
Congratulations.
Did you do the cost calculation?
Might be interesting number :P

enduro374 17-11-10 08:42

Very nice indeed!

How about a few more detailed pic's of the sump guard - I plan to get one!

Thanks..

Woottonboy 17-11-10 10:45

I like it

At what point did you spend more on the accessories than the bike??

RickM 17-11-10 18:41

Wow - that looks so much better without the grey bits. Seat looks fab too.
Any dirty pics yet??!!

I can do that! But wait till weekend, this week is pretty intense for me, jobwise...

zakidos 17-11-10 19:58

HAHA, dirty pics. I'd love to, but the weather is a pain in the ass and jobwise it's pretty hard right now. So let's see what's up at the weekend or in the near future. I'll post the dirty Ten!

I did the calculation... :O
The total amount for accessories/mods is about 5500. This number is WITH the Zega Pro panniers and the GPS system!
So you can minus 600 for the Zegas and 500 for the GPS. So the mods with the panniers system from Touratech are about 4400 which seems about right.

Why I did this? It's my dream bike. I like the pros and love the cons ;-)
No seriously, I think it'll last for the next couple of years and it hopefully stays a reliant buddy on and off the road.

Have a nice evening.

enduro374 17-11-10 21:06

It's only money & you're braver than me adding it all up!

The TT sump guard is great (got one), but be aware if you get the toolbox (got one also) it won't open wide enough to get tools without taking the skin off the back of your hand as the lid hits the header pipes!! Nice idea, but flawed. I'm going to take the hinge bolts out and replace them with quick release pins, so the whole lid comes off.

By the way, nice mods Zak! Have you lost the skin on the back of your hands like me?

Yes, it can be a pain in the ass. But I putted all my tools in a waterproof bag and stuffed it right in. It fits lovely, so the tools don't get all dirty and sandy from driving around and when I open the flap I easily manage to get the tool bag out.

Nice idea about the hinge bolts. It'd be worth trying it out! But I never lost any skin on the back of my hands ;-)

Cheers!

I've got big hands as well. But I'm not 100% satisfied with the toolbox either. Nice idea though.

Pleiades 18-11-10 21:33

Anyway, you've just inspired me to sort it. Been in the shed tonight and found two 5x10mm stainless clevis pins and two R clips. 5 minutes later job done! Thanks.

Share some pics please ;-)
So I can do the same at the weekend.

Pleiades 18-11-10 22:07

Will this do for now, too cold to go out again!

R clip

You'll need a couple of washers too.

I've ditched the clevis pins for now as they weren't quite the right diameter and cross-drilled some bolts. I found that with the two Dezus fiixings and the box locked its secure anyway!

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a..._6277small.jpg

Doesn't look it from the pictures, but taking the lid off makes unbelievable difference getting a tool roll in.

(Forgot - you'll need to superglue the nylon bushes in place (to the lid side) or you'll lose them!)

zakidos 20-11-10 19:43

THX Pleiades for sharing the pics. I'll definetely give it a shot.

enduro374 21-11-10 10:45

Thanks chaps.

I'll not be getting my tyre levers is there then, but OK for shorter tools or a small tool roll to keep them clean and dry. It's a good place to store dead weight.

That's exactly why I chose this option. When the bike's loaded it can be very arse heavy, every little bit of weight you can get up front (and low) the better.

enduro374 21-11-10 18:25

...and we don't like things of beauty being arse heavy! In fact she (or it) doesn't even need to be beautiful, just not arse heavy..

zakidos 15-05-11 20:08

Today I wanted to fill my toolbox (was empty for the last 8 month). And I found it cracked from both sides! I'm not sure if it's coming from the vibrations of the Ten or I hit something badly with my bike. But I can't think of anything... I wrote a mail to Touratech, let's see and wait what they're thinking about. I can weld this by myself...

Love knows no boundry's.

XTZMarko 16-06-11 19:56

Amazing

That's a lot of work and seriously impressive (..and expensive??)
Strangely, possibly one of the most striking changes is the white crash panels. Really improves the Rally Raid look.
I like the single exhaust can too and the low slung tool box
Very impressed....
