Monday

Collecting a bike on a monday is so cruel - five days of sitting around looking at it. Friday is the day to collect, that way you can ride all weekend surely.

When I bought my XT660R, the salesman actually said to me, "nothing sadder than a new bike leaving the showroom on the back of a ute."

Or waiting 5 more days with not being able to sit on it look at it as it sat in the dealer workshop would be even worse. Pity the poor Merkins who have to wait until march to get thier butts on one.

Really glad you are keeping it in the Yamaha family rather than opt for a lardy GS!

Well done

Lol as I was an owner of the one of the 1st GSA1150s (pre lwr) I learned that lesson early. Owned for just under 2 years and bike was in the shop for issues about 9 times, some silly (dealer jet washed the decals off- Tank corroded but new one turned up un painted!) and some serious rear hub had large amount of play (5~10mm att wheel rim) has put me of that and the later 1200..
I've also tried the Katoom 950 (for 2 years ) and as its not changed much in 6 years it leaves me uninterested.
I have to admit I was put off the new S10 by the method of selling, price and mag reports that basically said it didnt have any innovation and was overwieght. Having seen that the press seem to have missed the fact its actually moved the world on quite a bit with the ABS and TC systems and that other owner reports have be glowing in the handling/usability stakes I think its been mis understood (certainly in the UK- not helped by the price ). :)

Do yourself a favour when you get it. Find a flat gravel area, select S2 and whack the throttle open on a wide turn. You will end up grinning from ear to ear.

Then, find a steep gravelly slope, ride down it and grab hold of the front brake and be amazed.

You will love the security this bike gives you and just as importantly, so will your boss.

Its not as nimble or as fast as the 660 off road, but the slow speed agililty of this bike is incredible.
I am getting 45mpg on motorways and dirt tracks.

Enjoy and congrats
