Xt660r softer suspension

Has anyone softened up their R's suspension to make it more off road friendly.

Saw the post on the xr400 shocks which interested me. Are there any other yammy forks that are straight swap? All the modern yammy trail bikes I can think of are upsidedown forks.

I'm also keen to know if anyone offers after market springs for softening. all the springs i've found so far are for stiffening.

Cheers

Don't know of any softer springs. You can always go for a thinner fork oil & lower the fork oil level by 15mm, that will make the dampening softer.

Kev if I remember someone, in the italian forum did that a few years back (putting thinner oil) and their fork was bottoming out at every bump so much that they had to reverse it back to normal weight.

You need to tune your suspension for your riding conditions. Don't remember seeing this one, I would not go thinner than a 7.5W fork oil, what viscosity did he use & what did he set the fork oil level to?

Cheers for the advice lads. I'll look into that.
