Bad luck!!
Hey, y'all! Had some bad luck today: I was rearended by a car this afternoon.
Situation: I was leavin' a gasstation over an intersection and stopped for a old lady who's was crossing a pedestrian crossing and......boom I was lying by side of the road with my Tenere. Happily I wasn't injured but my Tenere was in a bad shape, unfortunately: the rearend with licenseplate and indicators broken off, my pannier rack bent, one pannier torn off, the other bent, rear handle(left) broken, handlebar bent(the brakecilinder now touches the console), mirrors bent(not broken), handguard left bent and some scrathes here and there. These are the "injuries" at first sight, tuesday there'll be a full examination of the damage by my dealer for the insurance. Oh yeah and the car had some major damage too: major dented front and radiotor kaput and leaking(the driver said he didn't see me stop! he wasn't injured either, happily). Major BUMMER!!!! Hope the damage is not too big and can be fixed, so I can ride again pretty soon. Greetz, Hans. |
Looks like whilst you were unlucky to be hit in the first place you had a real lucky escape there Hanz. It looks like that was a pretty big bash you took and I'm glad to hear youre both ok
|
Glad to hear you are unharmed. Those hepco and beckers are tough I think
Good luck with the fix Al |
I'm very sorry to read this, I hope your bike will be mended soon and I am glad you are unharmed.
|
Mate that is no good, hope it gets sorted soon.
|
what is the odds that
The insurance company will call it a total write off? The question is do you have salvage rights to the wreck?
Anyway it is good to see that your alive and ready to ride another day! |
Thanx, guys! Well, last night my neck&shoulder started hurting, so is my right foot(with a lump on it), so I'll better check in with my doctor this morning. And feelin' a lil' bit stiff. Strange that I didn't feel any of this right after the clash, probably the adranalin/endorfin?

The main thing is that you're ok Hans. For sure you'll be able to sort thing out with the insurance and recover the damage. As I also had a nasty crash just a few weeks ago I can tell you that the next morning I felt all my bones and muscles hurting like hell; my knees are still hurting after almost a month so be sure to check a doctor right away.
Get well, Ionut |
Hey, y'all! Well, so far I'm recovered from the initial pains(mainly on the muscles and my right foot) and my Tenere is at my dealer for examination for the damages(and possible repairs, if the damages aren't too big). Thru my insurance I also get a temporary replacement bike and that's gonna be a XT1200Z Super Tenere(!), so no complaints there! Lots of praise for my dealer Van Meel Motoren in Made, who'll do anything to help me in this unlucky matter, hear hear!! Hope the Tenere will ride again asap and if not(in case of a total-loss), I'll get a fresh one. Wait and see and in the mean time, I'll do some mileage on the S10!
Greetz, Hans. |
Yahoo!!! Tomorrow morning, I'm going to pick up my trusty ol' Tenere, all repaired and then some! The damage was 1600,- euro's, which included:
-pannierframe and panniers; -centrestand; -handlebar&risers/clamps; -complete rear(taillight and licenseplate holder, turnsignals, licenseplate); -reartyre(Tourance); -rearhandle protectors; -some small parts. The frame, swingarm and rearwheel were just fine, no damage there, luckily! Also replaced was my one week old Rev'it Defender jacket(complete new price refund), seperate from the motorcycle damage. Also ordered(but not arrived as of this moment): frontfender enlargener& rear wheel hugger, both from Off-the-road(see piccies). The AIS also blocked in the meantime(at the cilinderhead and airfilterchamber); no more "poppin'"! So long S10, welcome back Tenere660! Greetz, Hans. |
Glad you're ok!!! Sorry to hear about the bike ...
|
I had a ball today!! Ridin' my Ten for the first time again since the accident and it was GREAT!! How I missed that lil' ******, what a sweet machine it is and it makes me smile from ear to ear! It was good ridin' weather and the engine purred like a cat. I liked the S10 for two weeks, but I'm glad to have the 660Ten back, I wouldn't trade it for a S10, no way, Jos!!
By the way, now the AIS is blocked, it turns out to ridin' more relaxed now the "poppin'" is gone, I like it this way. Recommended, people! Greetz, Hans P.s.: now it's only waitin' for the two rear handgrip covers, which weren't in stock with YamahaNL; also the two items from Off-the-road from Germany haven't arrived yet, probably next week or so..... |
Good to hear you're back on the road..
|
Good result and A lucky escape looks like the pannier rails and panniers saved your ass. Ewan Mc Gregor suffered a similar attack from a car durring the Long way round again it was the panniers and rail that saved him and his bike.
hope the aches and pains are all better |
Its when you have an accident and feel instant pain you know it's bad times! Seems like you escaped the ole nasty road rash at least, looks like you are extremely lucky, and I hope things go smoothly with sorting the bike!
