Tenere toolkit help
 

Anyone help? I finally got the toolkit from my dealer but it does not fit in the space in the tank recess. Can anyone compare this tool kit number as I am sure I must have the wrong one (he has also provided the wrong item for the missing fairing bolt.

That's the correct part number, maybe it's not packed right? To be honest the standard toolkit's pretty crap anyway, you're better off making up your own one.

Totally agree that it's going to be crap, it's just that when I buy a brand new bike I expect itnto come with the bits that it should.

it is a pretty tight fit and you need to make sure to pack all the tools very efficiently into the little bag. You need significant free space in teh bag in order for it to fit the tank recess.

The content is crap indeed. Doesn't even include tools to remove the wheels. Who came up with that idea ? :075:

Did you at least get a big hex key for the front wheel nut.

no, you dont. nor the allen key for the pinch bolts on the spindle, no spanner for the rear either. bit naff innit?

Al - the toolkit will fit in, but it wont look like it really does, its more a case of getting the velcro to catch so it stays put while you wedge the seat on.

one thing you can do to make space is take the small phillips screwdriver out and throw it as far away as possible, I cant find a single screw on the bike that it would fit.

On battery terminal there is a phillips screw?...or is it just on the R.
The screwdriver is there to tell you that they have just screwed you with that crappy toolkit...cannot believe they don;t include a big hex key at least for all these bikes. Seems that there is a huge gap between the guys who design these bikes vs the ones who actually rides them...

aye there's a phillips screw on the battery, but the screwdriver i'm on about would perhaps be the right size to repair your spectacles, proof in my opinion that the toolkit is a generic one rather than having any thought put into it.

hey-ho, never mind - a lot of folks will never use the toolkit anyway, and those who do will always add to it/alter it to suit, so i reckon its just a minor niggle anyway.

Thanks all, Yes, its deffo a minor niggle only. (totally crap though as has been stated) In the end I gave up squashing it into the hole in the tank and put it under the rubber document holder strappy things beneath the seat.
I will make up my own tool kit of course, Never rely on monkey metal spanners and the rest from a bikes own kit.

Frees up the tank "hole" for something else as well:happy2:

It's handy for digging sharp objects out of your tyres....... Oh, and for removing the indicator lenses for bulb replacement.
