Does anybody elses XTR stall randomly?

Hi everyone, iv had my XTR stall on me a few times in random conditions

1, when its cold....i can understand that one tho
2, when i have been pulling away on a junction, before i have even got to the biting point on the clutch it has chucked out.
3, when im decelerating and going down the gears, it will sometimes just cut out

any help would me much appretiated!!!!:typing[1]:

check your idle revs...1450rpm...perfect..

and...get used to a single cylinder..just give it a bit more revs pulling away..

You will be fine once you get used to it.......but "up" your tickover (can be checked on your dashboard, and adjusted on the bike......

My bike cut out quite often when new...it got better after 300 miles...

It still cuts out occasionally now...on overrun....BUT i have modified some bits, and haven't got the fuelling perfect yet....

Remember tho, it is only a single cylinder, not a smooth as a four cylinder, so it will benefit from just trying to give it a few more revs when pulling away.

i think when you are de-cellerating, and it cuts out, it is a problem with the ECU, BUT A CURE FOR IT IS COMING SOON!!!

Sounds obvious, but a friend of mine bought a second hand XTR that used to cut out on occasion, needed nothing more than the spark plug replacing.

:sad5:In my eyes every bike needs to be treated as a new case, as not every XT is built the same & has the exact same mods.

There are some know reasons why some of the XT years constantly stall on over run when the clutch is pulled in.

It is great that everyone is adding there input to get a better understanding of these bikes.

my bike is a 2008 fitted with a standard 5VK-8591A-10 ecu....

Kev 22-09-10 13:21

I have personally fitted & tested every XTX/R ECU that has come out from 2004 to 2010 models.

My present 09 XTX is fitted with a 2006 01 ECU, does not stall at all.

Past XT with 00 ECU, stalled from brand new, 2004/2005 model.

10 ECU, never stalled much, 2007/2008 models.

11 ECU stalled at times, 2009/2010 model.

All of these ECU's have different reasons why the bikes stalled, the most common problems are idle speed to low & CO to rich.
