Piccies are a must of when you get it and also a write up of how easy/hard it was to fit. :YellowWink_VZHUX5:

Depending on what your using the bike for and how much the tank is really. i think its a good idea. The XTRs tank is surprising big/good at getting milage out of it so that extra gallon should allow you to get at least 200miles + from a single tank. Just what you need when your travelling around some of the far east or african countries and saves you having to try and carry about a gallon tank with you in a stupid/silly place.

But for normal day to day use the standard tank does most.

you should really try

The soft 12 litre fuel bladders, I am busy till Monday but I will take a picture of mine (then work out how to post a happy snap, I tried once before but couldn't sus it out). They are strong, cheaper, can be strapped in and around luggage and best of all roll up when empty taking up next to no space.

Best of all they go with you to your next bike.

Here is link, I don't have anything to do with the company but the product is good.

And.

I am yet to find anyone who can ride an XT660 for 500km without a short break. Gee, in some European country's wouldn't 500km have you from one boarder to the other???

Ive seen these alot before and they normally get good reviews. But you still have to carry it which causes the problem of were do you put it when full? As 12kg (1litre being 1kg) is quite a bit to place high up on the rear of the bike and to place it in a pannier low down will then out balance the bike.

Ive never heard of anyone doing 500km in one go on a bike let alone an XT660. But when you start touring/adventure/off roading in main land europe there are some places where petrol is either quite far to get to (50-60miles to nearest station, sometimes they dont have petrol or are not open, youve maybe got lost and had to do alot of U turns, or when off roading alot of slow speed stuff causes your MPG to be in the low 30's etc.

Mainly its the ease of not having to go/find a petrol station every time or every other time you stop

I vaguely remember Robson(cant rember full user name) buying one from the same company. He was willing to help forum members with orders too.

Fuel bladder

Hi
I took one of the 12ltr bladders on a trip to Birdsville in outback Queensland. It actually wouldn't hold much more than 11ltrs and is quite tricky to refuel the bike.
It comes with a screw on filler tube but this does not quite fit through the aperture in the screen inside the XT tank. I will find a smalle tube to fit on to it next time.
The bladder it self sat very well on the pillion seat strapped to the luggage.
I'd include a picture if someone can tell me how!

FWIW 1 litre of petrol weighs 0.737kg.

I ride an XT660Z so range is not so much of an issue but on a recent ride from Turin back to Blighty on the motorway between Dijon and Reims there is a long stretch of around 100km with just one emergency (pre-pay, predetermined quantity machine, cards only) fuel station where, if I'd stopped, I would have departed with less than a full tank and would have had to stop again before Calais. In the end I stopped after 470km with just over 2l remaining in the tank and reached Calais 105km after the reserve warning LED started flashing just in time to catch the last Shuttle through the tunnel for two hours. Even in Europe big tank range can be very useful.
