Another Tenere

I have now purchased another Tenere form one of the forum members, Spottyplayer. Went down 'Sarf' yesterday and believe it or not, without the screen and wingmirrors it fitted into the back of my Transit!
Anyhow the bike is another Khaki and is in excellent condition having only covered some 2500 odd miles. I need to get a lowering link and some rails for my MM panniers. In the meantime it does have Genuine Yamaha panniers which will soon be for sale (in excellent condition) which I will be able to use.
I have ordered TKC's for it and I have purchased another GPS mount.
So there we have it back to square one. The only difference is that my first Ten had been through two winters and I now know of some of the niggles that I have to sort out.
PS this bike has already had a new rectifier and loom!
Next meet at Kettlewell as Dazzer has posted.:yahoo:

Nice one Steve, glad you're back on two wheels- and thank goodness you found one in a decent colour :)

steveD 11-09-10 22:46

Thanks Pete.......and YES it's gorgeous!

PS I need a rear carrier. Keep one for me please and I'll be in touch for payment etc A second will be fine as I'm not exactly swimming in dosh at the moment and I need lots of other bits as well.

Cheers Pete.

SteveD I am very pleased for you. What kind of extra security are you now considering?

tenere doug 12-09-10 13:40

Great news mate, good to have you back on the road!
If you ever catch anyone else trying to steal your bike, I would suggest sending them for counselling and a chat with a social worker. After all, they're probably nice people really...

Thanks for that Cap'n. I will now be keeping my bike in a mates' garage well locked up down a private drive. He's got a big dog as well!:yahoo:
It will also be good to work in on these dark nights as well, good lighting, radio, television etc so result there.
I'll be plugging you for some more Xt660.com stickers later on as well if that's OK.

Cheers SteveD

Had a good day today. Removed tank to check loom for rubbing, put rubber where necessary. Copperslipped screws in body work and checked reg/ rectifier connection. Longer links from a 'Goose' fitted (+8mm) and made a nifty GPS mount. Lowered forks through 20mm...............and I still haven't ridden it yet!

I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you Steve, but it seems the thieves have been at it again. If you look closely at those photos you can see, that unfortunately, they have stolen your seat, tank, screen, and panels. It seems that they even loosened your fork yolk bolts, allowing your fork legs to protrude from the top. The good news is that they foolishly did not wear gloves, and so the police may be able to trace them by looking at the fingerprints in the photo.

:-P

I hope you have many years more of happy riding and camping on your new steed!

Oh Harry you are just so much of a wag, don't you realise that it was me that stole them!:icon_flower:

Smoggs 14-09-10 10:47

Steve, chuffed to here you've got a new steed sorted! Look forward to seeing at Kettlewell.

Any thoughts on what you're going to call it? With "B08" being derived from the reg number on the old one, it struck me that the top line of the new one read backwards reads 9one "gone!".
