What to do with dented rim?

My front rim is dented badly enough for me to feel it on the road.

I have to take the tyre off anyway to fit a heavy duty inner tube, so could I bang it back into shape with a rubber mallet or something? Any tips appreciated.

if im not mistaken, if its not too particulary bad then you can pull it back into shape by tightening the correct spokes but that I know nothing about.

Banging it with a hammer could make it worse unless you know what your doing.

Loosen the spokes off in the bent area, then place the wheel in a press & press the dent out with 2 blocks of wood, then true the wheel again as best as you can. You will never get it 100% true but should be able to reduce the dent to make for a smoother ride.
