I thought you were selling your XT to get a Suk-uzi?

dazmatic 06-09-10 19:05

Ah, I may be. Nothings decided yet.

I'll be honest, as much as I love that M800, sorting the finance out for it seems highly unlikely so I doubt I'll get it, but I am still very hopeful!

But in the meantime, still no harm in modding!

There's more to come too!

:033:Keep modding Daz, nice work...

Fitted the fork spacers this morning, went in a doddle using the ratchet/socket to press them down onto the springs whilst turning them.

Haven't been out for a ride yet though, can instantly see that they make a difference.

When jacking the bike up, you could see the bike lift out of the sag.

After fitting the spacers and letting the jack off (no pun intended) the bike didn't drop or sag, just stood steady!

Can't wait to trial them.

dazmatic 10-09-10 19:57

Well, just went for a quick blast but just rolling off the drive I felt the difference.

The ride height is higher. Before, I could almost put my heels on the ground, now im on tip toes!

Bike feels a lot more firm but not rock hard. It doesn't rock back and forth like a swing when changing gear and when accelerating it doesn't jerk back when you open the throttle.

Need to be careful when pulling away in first cause the front end doesn't want to stay down quite to much either!

You can feel the road through the bike much better and don't have to worry about being thrown about to much.

All in all, for a half hours work to make a pair, deffinately worth it!

Nice work, don't forget you can lower the tubes through the fork bridges to rower the ride height by 10mm.

Wait until you meet the twistys then you will see the difference.

dazmatic 10-09-10 22:13

Well, I kinda like sitting up higher like that, I've got a terrible back and I can either sit upright and slightly back, or head down chin on the tank style, but no inbetween.

So by the bike being higher, im sitting back a bit further which felt more comfortable.

Daz matic... can ye tell me exactly how ye done it.. an Kev do you have some o these, or Daz could you make me two... as i could do with me bike sittin better an i need all the height i can get,, me being 6`5"...I notcied the day the rear has got sag in it... when its off the side stand, an ye pull up on the rear handles.. ithe bike pulls up probably around 25mm or more.. so is anyone any thoughts on getting rid o the sag...woul i need links, dogbones, or is their a simple cure as i just sold a set o dogbones...Hmnnnn

dazmatic 02-10-10 09:48

No worries about hijacking matey!

I'm 5' 10" and as I said earlier, before I could put my heels down and now I'm tip toes.

I believe Kev has got some.
To fit them, click http://www.xt660.com/site/node/162 here and it's all explained how to fit with pictures.

If you want to get rid of the sag in the back, I might be wrong here but, I think you can stiffen the back suspension a couple of clicks.
