Strange noise in the engine

My XT with this strange noise in the engine, not valve, there is chain of command, with my xt is 23000 km and the year it is 2008.
I find it difficult to search, someone could tell me some topic?
I found this: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...y+noise+engine

Kev 27-08-10 22:40

You would need to describe the noise in more detail for us.

When do you hear the noise, at idle, at a curtain rpm not riding, only when riding, when accelerating, on over run, when does it make the noise?

Can the noise be heard when Hot or cold?

Where abouts do you hear the noise, from the top of the motor, bottom of the motor, left or right side of the motor?

arnilton 31-08-10 15:24

I went to a trusted mechanic, he heard the engine noise and also confirmed that noise rod knocking.
The noise is from the left side.
The bike is only with 23,000 miles and all exchanges were made of oil

iShoe 31-08-10 16:52

When you have the motor stripped let us know what you find.

GSR2010 01-09-10 13:16

It sounds like a bent valve to me but then again i know **** all about bikes

Kev 01-09-10 13:29

Not a bent valve, the motor would not run with a bent valve it's a single cylinder.

Get them to check the decompressioner & pin encase there is a problem there before they pull the motor out. Best get that motor stripped, I would not ride it like that.

arnilton 02-09-10 18:06

the problem is a break in the rod to the crankshaft, but still can not remove the pin crankshaft to know the real problem.

Holy crap, look at the colouring to one side of the con rod!

That must have been getting seriously hot in there for it to generate heat like that!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vUSdLec8yg

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00898.jpg

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00915.jpg

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00916.jpg

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00941.jpg
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00921.jpg

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00932.jpg
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00930.jpg
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00931.jpg
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00927.jpg

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00935.jpg
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC00934.jpg

Sadly I'm far too ignorant to be able read the comments on the above pics, if anyone is enlightened and can translate I'd be very interested, great pics thank you.

The problem of noise was found, was loose in the washer motor in contact with the chain of command

richardsracingmad 06-09-10 22:34

timing chain failure? seems like the washer was pin-balling round the engine, til it found a timing chain......

poor guy....the motors a mess..........

The blueing of the crank web is normal, have a look at my Raptor conversion & you will see the same blueing on my crank.

Nice work at least you found the noise, thanks for showing us. How many KMs had the motor done?

arnilton 08-09-10 13:00

My XT660 has only 21,000 km, and the engine was never opened

Does sound very funny as the engine hasnt had that many miles on it. It must have been something to do with a bad construction at Yamaha or something.

Hope it didnt cause too much damage and you can get up and runnning again soon?
