MTC Exhausts

Spoke to the guy at MTC last week and it seems it may not be long before they can supply some for the Tenere (awaiting confirmation from a company that is going to produce the link pipe apparently).

Anyway, here's the question; being a skinflint, is it worth just fitting the cans and not spending out loads of dosh on a power commander? What'll it gve me apart from a MUCH better sound?

Opinions welcome!:017:

You also gain a few kilograms of weight with cans. I don't know about the Tenere but the xt-x/r are a bit lean already with standard exhaust, with cans it will go even leaner = more jerky on throttle. So in my opinion you should at least get the kev fuel mod, thats only 64AUD. With those two you will at least gain 2 or 3 hp I think.

The plus points are, very nice sound (imo) and a pretty big weight saving over stock. However if its power gains you wish for then your money would be best spent on dna filters and a kev fuel mod.

Cheers Gents, much appreciate the advice. Seems a good way to go then is a DNA filter, Kev's fuel mod and, if money permits, a set of cans......I'm a sucker for a nice noise:icon_burnout[1]:

I know I can fit the cans and the filter but how difficult is it to fit Kev's fuel mod.......I should say I'm not the most gifted of people in the mechanical sense!:sad2:

The Kev fuel mod is very easy to fit & tune anyone can do it, the mod comes with full fitting instructions with step by step photos with 100% back up.

Thanks Kev, I'll need it if I buy one! :017:

Am I the only one with the X Racing single can? No link pipe nonsense and cleary half the weight. Also frees up all that space the twin can/original set up takes up and I'm in the process of a fibreglass underseat storage area now..Don't hold your breath just yet though..

BTW Lairy Boy, I fitted Kev's fuel mod, AIS mod and K&N air filter with the X Racing pipe.

Kev's mod was straightforward to fit and with everything else fitted I leave the 'knob' set central. No flat spots and runs perfectly. I fitted this so that if one day I have some low octane fuel, then just turn up the volume. Ideally I'd like the Power Commander as well - is that greedy and will it work?

You will smile even more with the MTC cans. Extra smiles are good.

I have a PCIII and Stage 1 & 2 Filters plus other usual mods....... but the MTC cans would be the last mod they prised from my cold dead hands if I had to give any of them up.

Selina

PS: The above is of course the opinion of an XTX rider, make of that what you will :p

I was hoping that MTC would come up with a single can system for the XTZ. I have plans for the space that would be come available (cylindrical tool box, under seat storage . . . )

Thanks for that......perhaps I should consider a single can.....I could put a wine cooler on the other side (just like my mate has on his XR650R - I kid you not!):110:
