XTR Oil Level
I have a question regarding the dipstick used for checking oil level in our frame. Is there a volume of oil represented from the low end to the high end? Something like 250ml or 400ml?
To clarify, in a car, the difference between the Low and High mark on the dipstick is one quart. So if you check the oil and it's in the middle of the L & H then you add a 1/2 quart and you're golden. I don't quite know what the volume between the Low and High represents on the XTR's dipstock though. Any thoughts? The manual doesn't really say either, and perhaps it's because it's not an exact science based on checking the oil in the frame rather than down in the sump. (I'd prefer the sight glass on the side of the engine case rather than a dipstick to be honest.) :hello: |

You must only check your oil level after a short ride when the motor has reached operating temperature, otherwise the oil level will indicate the incorrect level. The oil can drain overnight from the oil tank back into the frame showing no oil or low oil level, it takes a few kms of riding for the motor to correct the oil balance & show the correct level on the dip stick. |
