PLEASE READ - Important News For all those selling through XT660.com - New rules

This section of the forum is under much scrutiny by myself and the moderators. However as we move with the times we appreciate that much business is done by members of this forum through this very section, completely free of charge.

Personally I don't mind it staying that way, however some of the moderators have pointed out to me that quite a few people with an XT have joined the forum with the sole purpose of selling their bike or parts and then disappear once the sale is done.

That is plain rude.

This forum is financed by one person only, the free "airtime" you are all benefiting from, comprises of webspace providers monthly fees, vBulletin yearly support fees, and all the relentless yearly upgrades for patches and bug fixing patches which are obligatory from said software companies.

We have decided unanimously to allow write access to the For Sale section solely to XT Supporters, which means only XT Supporter can post an ad to sell their bikes or parts in the For Sale section, while anyone else can read them and therefore pm the "seller" if interested. This will not minimize their chances of a succesful sale.

Any for sale advertising by non XTSupporters posted in a sub forum other than the allowed For Sale area will be deleted so any cheeky attempts to circumvent, outwit, dodge, thwart or evade these rule will be removed.

That includes signature lines, and any similar mentions in a post or number of posts will be deleted and repeated attempts will be treated with the yellow / yellow / red card rule, i.e. 3 attempts = red card and it's a ban for a month.

Those who join the XT Supporter scheme will have full access to sell and exchange for a full year. Click this link to join: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=1475

I think that's very fair. Even at 10 to join the fourum with free 'for sale' access, it's cheaper than Ebat, MoreCrap than News, or even the local paper.

Thanks G_U_L_G_O slight correction: it's free to join the forum, but it's a 10'er to join the XT Supporters, in case regular members are interested please click here for more info: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=1475

Sounds fair to me, and like GULGO says still value for money.

Fair Enough

Seems more than fair to me. Well done for thinking up the rule change. :occasion14:

That is the same rule on the UKGSer site and I totally agree with you. I would have imposed it a while ago when a lot of people seem to have just joined just to sell something. :read:

Capt,

I am a bit perplexed, while I totally agree with and support your rationale, whats the difference between paying for a subscription and paying a donation ?

Is it not easier (for you) just to let the sellers subscribe and sort the advert out themselves ?

Ray, there is a glimmer of logic in my "madness": I was referring to those "rougue visitors" who have no interest whatsoever in being part of a social forum as we are, those who indeed only joined to make a sale then go on about their business, that I shall feel out of place in forcing them to subscribe to something that they have no interest to be part of, if only to treat the house as a free ride.

There's always :ebay: after all.
