What's the tank made of ? and coated with ?

Strange question i know....

PRevious owners decided to stick 5 little round Yamaha decals all over the front of the XTX. So i removed them today.

However 1 on the LHS panel and the one on tank by filler cap seem to have been superglued in place !

Tried the hot soapy water but as yet, not getting very far.

Can't use any Acetone based product on the panel i'd imagine but may get away with it on the tank if the right material.

Other option is to cover the thing with the same round bit i've just removed LOL.

use a hair dryer and heat up the sticker then it should peel off. :002:

Stickers are all off, i used some Tar remover to get the normal stickers sorted... but 2 of them were superglued... not standard sticky backing...

I think you might be screwed on this one. Nail varnish remover is about the only thing I can think of to get it off, and that's going to leave some damage behind unless you are very carefull and very lucky.

If you can sacrifice the badge and cut it away without touching the bike, you might be able to use a cloth with a little acetone on it to clear away the glue. Lots of work, and polishing after. If it was me I wouldn't bother, but I suspect you may get some kind of twisted pleasure out of the polishing bit :winner:

Could it be, possibly, that these sticker/badges are hiding something ?

If you do get it off, be sure to say how you did it

All of them are off mate. It's just 2 of them have left Superglue. I rekon they came loose after being fitted and therefore they've now used some extra stuff to finish the job a bit better.

Acetone will destroy the plastic on the orange part, but i may get away with it on the tank if that's metal/paint not plastic.

Oooooooh the overall cost for
Panel
Tuning decal
Swoosh decal
XTX decal

104.

ouch...

At that price i'll be sticking the little round Yamaha decal back on the Orange peice for sure lol.

Well the Acetone worked well on the tank. So happy with that..

Fairing though i'm very dubious about having a go at and will probably get a Yamaha decal like the one at the top and re-do it nicely on both sides.

tank's plastic too isn't it? why would that be different to the front fairing?

Tank is metal mate.

You can see it when you see where seat rubs.

Also it makes a 'ding' noise when you tap it :)

not a clunk LOL

ah my mistake - you're talking about X, I'm talkin about Z. Why? you may ask... :icon_lol:
