Day 6. after the urban spawl of Bradford,Halifax and Huddesfield it suddenly got very rural again with good twisty and steep roads into Derbyshire and the Peak District NP area. There was a byeway just prior to this car park but didn't ride it. Saw my first Tenere on the trip (other than GULG's) in Halifax or Huddersfield area -another white one-was it you? |
Thats all the photos. Hope you enjoy my great experience and please ask any questions.
I will later in add some statistics such as fuel used and costs etc. |

Can you give me a link? |
Some cracking shots there Mark. Hopefully we'll get to have a pint or two in July if you can make it up here again - you're going to love the other high passes.....

expensive but classy about 90.00 It works well for me (about 5ft 10") plus with an Arai Tour x 2 it stope the peak vibrating. Very good quality- no rust on the clamp or nuts and bolts. goto www.touratech.co.uk |

The sat nav is a Garmin Nuvi 265W 150 from Halfords. Its bluetooth for phone or if you have a blue tooth earpiece or enabled helmet so you can get the voice directions. It also has traffic management and will detour you round traffic jams plus its got full European mapping and has a SD card slot for viewing pictures and I believe you can buy OS maps on SD card and play these through the Garmin and use for off road(not checked this though yet). |
Thanks for posting that up, what was your average daily mileage? I'm miffed I missed the first posting of your route, as I would've come to visit you at Brecon.

Sorry you missed the original post as it would have been nice to meet you in Brecon or elsewhere in Wales. Might see you in the Lakes on GULG camping weekend in July? |
Thanks for sharing the photos and your experience's Mark. Well done:happy1::family::notworthy[1]::WellDone_OROQR1:

Makes me want to go for a long ride.. Thanks for the great pic's..
Off to SE1 on Friday on the Ten' for a bit of brain out commuting fun.. |
Brilliant thanks for the great pictures! I have just bought the same Givi satnav bag but find it twists round so the screen is vertical. Did yours do this and if so how did you fix it, or does the bars/tank arrangement on the Z stop it happening compared to my X?
Cheers, Selina |

No,did not get this problem. I fixed mine on the Z by fitting the velcro straps each side wound tight around the cross bar and then down and around the upper fork stantions and back again but pulling tight all the while. Not sure if the handlebars are the same on the X? occasionally it did move slightly but I found this helped to see the nav screen by altering the angle from the sun glare. |

Yes mate, should be there for that, body permitting. |
Great pictures Mark.
Looks like the weather was good to you. |
Great journey to enjoy from my armchair
little trip of my own comming soon What bag set up you using on the back ????? it looks like a good rig :walk: |

However its not strictly 100% waterproof as a small amount gets in through the stitching on the joins at either side where it hangs over the rear seat. I get round this by using dry sacs for clothes or sleeping bag etc which double up as waterproof carry bags to take your gear into accomodation. Other than that the bag works well, is extremely hard wearing and is made of a HD rubberised plastic which never slips or moves and you can strap other bags or tents to it as I did in the piccies. Out of 10 I give it 8. |
That looks fantastic, I have still yet to take my Ten on a proper ride but your pictures are inspiring me!

You will not regret it. This was the first time I have ever done this and on my own. Loved every minute of it. Looking forward to visiting the Lakes on GULG's XT660.com camping weekend. I will also be planning a new trip soon-probably Europe. I have got he adventure bug now! |
