Yamaha Handguard Extenders

When I picked up my Tenere, it already had the genuine guards and "wind deflectors" LOL!!! on it.

The bike was fine when I had the muffs on it, but I (as everyone else has I'm sure) found the wind deflectors are C.R.A.P....oh and did I mention that they are crap too?

[Does anyone from Yamaha read these forums for feedback - you would pay are marketing company a small fortune to get this genuine opinion feedback...?...anyway I digress]

Sooo rather than buy and fit different guards, I have made some add on deflectors that extend the lower portion of the handguards - and now I'm off to try them out (they certainly won't be any worse) - if they work...is anyone interested in me making a pattern and instructions? (I don't want to take them off again if no one is interested...but if you are...I will)

Right test out first...watch this space. (Oh and I'll take a photo too)...

Can you post some pictures Avo? I might be interested.

Yeah I'll try them out tomorrow (Going to the Southend Shake Down) so I'll take some piccys and if you think they'll do you. I'll post the stencil and instructions...

OK Avo, I'll wait and see. Cheers

Obviously haven't got to be orange..make it from any stiff plastic you have laying around...this is the back cover off a used A4 note book...tis all I had to hand.

very good !!

I intended to drill/cable tie some hard notebook plastic cover in front of them for the winter...and then I bought heated gloves :p

using the existing screw is an excellent idea !!!

Okay, I've finally taken off the bike and measured them up. So here are some more piccy's and a stencil.

If you print this out and enlarge/shrink so the dimensions shown match in real life, you'll have something pretty close.

Materialwise all I had was the orange plastic off an old A4 notebook, so if you hunt around you should find something suitable, even in pink, if that's what revs your enjin.

(there are two holes on the left side...ignore the upper one, that was a mistake...its correctly marked on the template above, this pulls the side round and up to give it a quite good shape (IMHO))

This is the screw I used. I made a pilot hole in the original side piece of the handguard (this is the only modification to the original)

and here you can see it in situ...
