DNA Stage 2 Filters in wet weather
Recently fitted stage 2 DNA filter and winter is coming up, just wanted to check has anyone had any bad experience with riding in wet weather with stage 2 DNA fliter?

Didja fit it to a motorbike or a jetski? It'll be fine - just don't let water get above the level of the top of your airbox...
The airbox on my bike is like a big Swiss cheese and in the heaviest rain its been trouble free. 'cptr |

just wanted to make sure, have heard water doesn't mix well in engines..! |
Have had 2 XTX's both with stage 2 filters over 4 years & have never had a problem with water in the heaviest rain. You are good unless the filter is submerged in water, service it every 6 months you will be good.

I also wondered about this, thanks for the answer. It has rained here every day since the beginning of October, never known a year like it for rain.:085: Service ever 6 months gotcha on that, thanks. Ryland |
As long as the filters are oiled correctly you will be OK.

I checked mine and it seems they didn't come pre oiled. Can I use motul air filter oil? If not will need to pick up some k&n filter oil. The spray one seems the go..

Cool thanks Kev, lucky I asked was considering using it, the filter is bone dry. Will pick some up tomorrow, and maybe leave the motul for the foam filter on the dirt bike!

Kev is right, also in heavier rain, no problem with DNA2 (if correctly lubricated). In any case if you are interested about this, have a look to this thread, overall where Kev explain me the air box. http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=13037&page=3 Ciao.:italy::italy::italy::italy: |
