Help Please I need a seat?

Hi Guys, I have gone and burnt a ruddy big hole in my seat, I have looked around the web, ebay local dealers but can't seem to find a replacement, the dealers are quoting 111.23 for a replacement. Anybody any ideas where I might get a used one or a moded one or a cheaper one than the dealer? Thanks in advance.

PS its a XT660R with a black and blue seat.

If you are looking for a complete seat then this price seems about right.

How big is a bloody big hole and how much of the sponge have you burnt?

If you haven't burned much of the sponge or can pack it out it's realy easy to recover yourself. Unlike a lot of bikes you can buy the seat cover material for the XTX/R as a spare part. It seems to be 30-50 depending on year and colour, and you'll the forementioned big stapler (maybe 10 from Wicks).

I changed mine a few months back and it only took about half an hour. If you need to fill a gap in the sponge a soft furnishings shop will probably have something suitable.

Thanks for all your replies,

The hole is mainly at the tank end and hasn't damaged too much of the sponge but has melted the plastic frame of the seat, I could probable repair that, I think I’ll call the dealers tomorrow for a quote for just the cover. Maybe that’s the answer

I would quite like to keep it blue / black and standard so the flea bay ones at present are no good but will keep watching.

I’ll post a picture for you on what not to do with your seat when starting / running your bike through winter

How on earth have you managed to do that? When you said burned I thought you meant cig burn or a soldering accident or something :eusa_wall:

Looks like someone got hungry :icon_mrgreen: and decided the seat looked tasty:blob8:.

I had the seat under the bike whilst leaving the optimax on the battery, when I started it I didn't move the seat hence the exhaust melted the seat and I then cried :sad2:

Now i understand, easy mistake to make if you coulnt see the seat. I can understand the tears too:BangHead:
