Crash Bungs For 08XTX

Can anyone tell the choice of makes i have in crash bungs for my 08XTX and the best place to get them from? I like the look of the LSL one's on Demon Tweeks but they are not listed for the 08xtx? Your advise as always is much appreciated. Cheers Bridportblue. :SpinHappy_15XK8L:

I am useing R&G bungs i orderd mine from my local yam dealer

Bishop0151 29-12-09 23:41

I have these http://members.multimania.co.uk/mgmo...h_bobbins.html , I've never used them in anger but others have any they do the job by all accounts.

My only issue is they they came with 8mm threaded bar for fitting and I needed 6mm to fit the hollow spindle on my 06 XTX. That cost me 2 from my local B&Q.

Yep I got the same as recommended by Bishop:048: Not got round to fitting them yet coz as pointed out you need to get a smaller spindle..

I've just had these delivered, I dropped them an email before ordering and asked about having 6mm bar for the front, they said no problem and sent the order that day :)

Very pleased total of 18 including postage.

hey selina, how did you go fitting the crash bungs? i had some issues with the rear one sitting far off the axle, and the front one's not sitting straight, some washers in the front and fixed, and a hole drill to mod the rear one and fixed. Just wondering how u got on?

Hey CC, the bungs are sat in a bag of other goodies (PC3, Alarm, heated grips, exhaust protectors) on the XTX's handlebar awaiting fitment tomorrow when she's out back on the road now the winter salt is over (hopefully). I'd better fit them in the morning before our local bolts'n'stuff place closes as I think I'll need some washers etc too.
Will let you know!
Thanks,
Selina

Didn't get my act together in time to get to the bolts'n'stuff place for more spacers and 6mm bar for the rear. But fitted to the front just fine with 5 washers between the fork leg and the bobbin. Have to wait till next week to put the rear one on.

Looking forward to a thrash out with the Carpe-TDM crowd tomorrow, never mind the Iridium plug (big :signthankspin: to Worry Brother) and PowerCommander she's now got go-faster stripes on her wheels!

It always suprises me that people try to save money buying cheaper crash bungs then spend more money and time trying to make them fit properly than it would to buy a slightly more expensive one designed to fit the bike
Got my R&G bungs from the yam dealer about 40 and took about 5 mins to fit both sets no extra parts or modification needed

SelinaXC 20-03-10 19:25

40 is more than

Didn't mean it like that i was adding in the cost of the 6mm bar some people need for the rear the fuel and parking costs of finding a shop that sells the bar and spacer washers and all the time that takes maybe its just me being lazy but i would rather spend a bit more and save a few hours

stumpydave 20-03-10 19:52

Ive got exactly the same bungs as selina and bishop and several others on this site, also paid 18 delivered. Ordered mine with 6mm bar for front and rear, no extras, no washers or anything, 10 mins to fit front and rear.
Im glad I ordered these and not dearer ones :Gangsta2_9BI664: and wouldnt hesitate to recommend them.

Hi Captain Kev
I really like your orange xtx i ckickened out and bought a white/red instead. Where did you get your tail tidy and are those skate board wheels or crashbungs? Cheers Bridportblue :hw27:

CC XT660 24-05-10 03:59

hey mate, not meaning to jump in but they are skateboard wheels, not actual crash bungs. They stopped doing the orange xtx in 2006 also FYI

I have an orange one but am over ppl thinking it's a ktm!!
