Yeh, me too. It's obviously geared to the touring side of adventure riding, rather than off-road. It looks like a prettier version of Suzuki's V Strom to me, a bike I've owned for five years and loved every minute, but that's in need of an update. If Suzuki aren't doing it maybe Yamaha have, Really looking forward to seeing proper pics and in the flesh.

Forgot to say ...... for those like me who don't have the paper, you can see the pics on their website www.motorcyclenews.com

Thank you for this. Heard about it too, and was keen to see the first pictures.

If MCN (More Crap than News) had a headline story saying that the sun would rise in the morning, I'd be waiting until morning to see for myself.

It's just a very fuzzy picture of a model.

And Yamaha are being very quiet about the size of the motor - so my money is on something more in the 1000cc capacity.

The model seems quite similar to the TDM to my mind so I would not be too surprised if they used that engine tuned to create a little bit more torque than it currently does. Having had it as a loan bike it pulls pretty well and has better balance than the Tenere. Maybe if they lengthhened the stroke, increasing capacity and torque, they might get nearer a 1000cc version perhaps. That would be easier than developing a new engine entirely.

If I wanted a 1200cc Bike I would have kept the GS1200. I personally would not buy it for the same reason that I sold the GS and got the Tenere 660.

Same here..... Nice if you never had a GS or big adventure bike though. Im sticking to the 660 its a great bike and does everything I want it to.
