XTX gearbox noise

Hi there,
I've got a 2004 xtx with just over 15000km on the clock. I love my bike and use it daily to go to work and back. Recently I have discovered a new noise coming from around the front sprocket or the gearbox. It was some kind of klicking noise, mostly noticable at low speed. So I lubed and adjusted the chain, that actually made it worse. Probably because of slightly too much chain tension, so I backed that off a little. The clicking has largely gone but now it's more like a bearing noise and it is most noticable on gearing down.
Any ideas anybody?

Have you checked your front sprocket for movement or to see if there is teeth missing or worn away as when your getting on it the torque from the chain will lesson any movement and slowing down and going slowly there isn't enough torque to keep the chain from hitting either the front sprocket cover or swingarm.

Yeah, thanks for that M.
It has crossed my mind too and I've had a bit of a look but Iother than bit of wear it all looks ok. I have just ordered a new chain and sprockets from OTR. Hopefully that will fix it. Do you know these guys? They have just about anything you can think off for any of the 660s. And they are super efficient. Last year I ordered pipes and and few other bit and it took all of 6 days from ordering to delivery.
Cheers
Matt

Do you have a bottom chain roller?

Sounds like someone has changed it to me, there should not be any washers on there.

Or the rubber has been completely worn away/disintegrated (like my last one).:icon_frown:
